Whistling Pig Farm Whistling Pig Farm Fast forward to 2012 when we, Desmond and David, move onto the property as the current custodians. They also enjoy a scratch behind the ears!

Originally built as a wedding present in 1862 the 2 room stone house still stands on Whistling Pig Farm, a 40 acre property on the Fleurieu Peninsula just outside the township of Delamere, 100km south of Adelaide. The name comes from the period when the original cottage was used by the local miners as an illegal grog shop nicknamed 'The Pig & Whistle' (reflecting their Cornish heritage). Renamed ‘Whistling Pig Farm’ we commence our journey in the business of growing organic food and raising animals ethically. Wessex Saddleback pigs roam the property – well not quite – but they are free to dig, plough and enjoy muddy wallows in the summer – as pigs should. Geese, chickens and ducks free range in an enclosed orchard and sheep & alpacas wander around the paddocks. Wildlife is abundant with beautiful birdlife and roos basking in the paddocks. We’re also undertaking significant revegation of the property with the assistance of our local Natural Resources Management Board so that the abundant wildlife can take their place along side the introduced animals. For information about pork sales and anything else to do with the farm sign up for our mailing list to receive updates. Send an email to [email protected] and we will add you to the list. The list is private and not shared with anyone. To see a digital story of our first year follow the link below:
