I hear it everywhere I go: groceries cost more, household bills keep climbing, and people are having to stretch every dollar. I hear you, and I've taken action.

I've voted to make life more affordable, including plans to reduce:
✅ Property taxes and homeownership costs
✅ Utility bills
✅ Sales taxes
✅ Car insurance
✅ Childcare and preschool expenses
✅ College tuition and skilled trades training
✅ Medical debt burdens

I've also spearheaded investments in local roads and public safety, secured free school meals for students, and focused on the elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse in state government.

I know there's more work to do, but I'll keep striving to help families afford to live, work, and build their future in our great state.

Yesterday’s groundbreaking marked an important milestone. The $152 million runway project will bring us the next generation of F-15EX fighter jets, keeping Michigan safe, supporting our military, and strengthening the jobs that depend on it. I am proud to get this done for our state.

Michigan is at its best when leaders dig in and work together. When federal, state, and local partners unite around shared priorities, we can deliver meaningful results for our communities and build a stronger future for generations to come.

Today, on First Responders Day, we recognize the men and women who dedicate themselves to protecting our communities.

I applaud law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and crisis responders! These dedicated professionals answer the call when others need help most. Their courage, professionalism, and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of the people they serve.

Their work often comes with personal sacrifices and challenges that most of us will never understand. Today, we thank them and their families for their service and dedication.

To all our first responders: thank you for stepping forward and serving our communities when it matters most.

Every child deserves a great start and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our latest budget invests $40 million to expand dual enrollment, helping more high school students earn college credit early while saving their families money on tuition.

We also expanded preschool options to help more families access early learning and give their children a strong foundation for the years ahead.

From preschool to college, we’re working to give Michigan kids more opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.

I’m grateful for President Marshall Washington’s recognition of our work to increase educational opportunities, strengthen workforce development, and help more Michiganders build successful futures.

KVCC supports our recent expansion of access to tuition-free community college through Michigan Reconnect, giving more eligible adults the opportunity to gain new skills, advance their careers, and pursue new opportunities.

When we invest in our students and workforce, our entire community benefits.

Should companies use your personal data to charge you more than other shoppers?

I voted to stop businesses from using your online activity and personal information to set prices.

What you pay shouldn't depend on how much a company knows about you.

Every child deserves the opportunity to become a strong reader. I’m proud our bipartisan Science of Reading legislation is now law, helping Michigan students develop the skills they need to thrive.

By listening to educators, working across party lines, and focusing on what’s best for students, we turned a shared goal into action.

The ability to read well creates opportunities that last a lifetime.

I’m working to make housing more affordable by cutting property taxes and fees, making it easier to build, and preventing large corporations from buying up single-family homes in bulk.

New laws are opening the door to more housing options and giving families more ways to stay in their homes during tough times.

I want Michigan to be a place where families can afford to live, work, and put down roots for generations to come.
