Had a very constructive meeting in Consett yesterday regarding Anti-Social Behaviour in the area. It is absolutely rife at the moment up and down County Durham. I will be looking into ways to prevent this where possible and working with police in the area.

If anyone has any queries or needs my support, please email me at [email protected]

Thank you everyone🙂

Just a quick update:

I know a lot of residents in Burnopfield were concerned about the persistent leak on the Front Street opposite the Londis shop. I would like to address that this has always been a NWL issue and not a Durham County Council one. After months of toing and froing, Northumbrian Water carried out tests at the end of July, and admitted the responsibility here. There has now been a job raised for an excavation and once I receive any further updates I will let residents know.

County Durham is a beautiful place. It should not be treated like a dumping ground.

That is why Reform UK is taking action:
✅ A new Autumn Big Clean
✅ AI-powered litter cameras
✅ Fines increased to the legal maximum of £500
✅ Community clean-ups for those caught littering

To the thousands who already give up their time to keep our county tidy: thank you.

To those who throw rubbish from cars or leave it for everyone else to clean up: we’ll do everything we can to catch you — and make you pay.

Real action. Cleaner streets. Better communities.

Armed Forces Day.

Such an important day for me on both a personal and professional level. Family members served to protect the values we hold dear, and my heart and respect goes out to those that served for us; those that sadly lost their lives so that we could have ours, and for those currently fighting for us.

To all Veterans, and everyone who is/was involved with our Armed Forces. Thank you🩵

One man has been arrested after a cannabis grow was uncovered at an address in Burnopfield.

Following concerns raised by the community, officers from Stanley Neighbourhood Team attended the unoccupied premises in The Leazes, Burnopfield, on Wednesday (June 24).

Once inside, they found approximately 1,000 cannabis plants.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity and taken into police custody where he remains.

The plants will now be destroyed, and an investigation is ongoing.

We have now called upon Luke Akehurst MP to take this call to action to central government. The concerns of local residents have been ignored, and the decision from our local Planning Committee has been overturned, signaling a need for government intervention now.

Reform-led Durham County Council now plans to raise the decision with Luke Akehurst, MP for the area

Children in care deserve better than expensive temporary accommodation and a revolving door of private providers cashing in on crisis.

That’s why Reform UK-run Durham County Council is investing £3.9 million in 25 new homes for vulnerable young people right here in County Durham.

✅ Safe, stable local accommodation
✅ Better support for independent living
✅ Less reliance on costly unregulated providers
✅ Better value for taxpayers

The old system saw over £1 MILLION a year spent leasing emergency properties from private landlords — sometimes at up to £214 per night.

We’re changing that.

Protecting vulnerable young people while making smarter use of public money. That’s what real reform looks like.

Vote Reform, get Reform. 💙
