Postponed until 2025.....yes, in agreement with Judy Coggins we'll be "cautiously optimistic"

The N.C. Department of Transportation has postponed the planned overhaul of the Glenwood Avenue interchange with the Beltline, meaning drivers won’t have to endure two major projects along Interstate 440 at one time.

They show that NCDOT, with input from the City, chose 2 alternatives to move forward with in February. Alternative 1 is A3-B, the preferred alternative from the 2011 City study.

On Oct. 19, more than 2 1/2 months after saying they were starting over, NCDOT wrote a letter stating that they were no longer considering these alternatives.

NCDOT it won't connect Ridge to Glenwood or Crabtree Avenue, however, they will not rule out the Crabtree Valley Avenue Interchange or other individual components from Alternatives 1 & 2.

Hello Neighbors!

The DOT is going to hold four (4) separate "listening sessions" to hear our concerns about the I440 interchange. They are requiring people to sign up in order to attend. Also, at each session, the DOT is going to separate the larger group into several smaller ones. At Monday's CAC meeting, the DOT's representative was told that the community prefers to meet and be heard as a group so we can hear all of our neighbors' concerns and the consultants' responses. Despite our preference, the DOT is going ahead with this format.

Attached you will find the link to register!

It's critical that we attend these meetings. We need to spread our attendance amongst the different dates to make sure our point of view is strongly represented at every session.

We have listed the dates below however, you must click on the link and sign up to be registered to attend. The choices:

Tuesday, Sept. 18, 6 pm - 8:30 pm Martin Middle School

Thursday, Sept. 20, 10 am - 12:30 pm Ridge Road Baptist

Tuesday, Sept. 25, 6pm - 8:30 pm Martin Middle School

Saturday, Sept 29, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm Martin Middle School

Controversy at Raleigh City Council over Falls of Neuse widening project. Will City Council politics have an effect on how Raleigh and NCDot interact? Will the fight over the Falls/540 project influence the Glenwood/440 project?

Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane asked Raleigh City Council to stop misleading people about the widening of the Falls of Neuse Road project. It's a NCDOT project. Council member David Cox has been opposed to the project.
