Thanks for letting me a small part of this awesome event, the people that gave up their Friday night to spend it remembering our heros and neighbors are the reason that our community is the best out there.

On September 11, it felt like the world stopped turning.

September 11 changed America.
September 11 changed Hampshire.
September 11 changed the world.

But September 12 showed us what America and the world could look like when we put everything else aside.

There was no room for the usual bickering, hatred, or bitterness. For a brief moment, none of that mattered.
We didn't know each other's politics.
We didn't care where someone came from.

We didn't care what divided us.
We cared about each other.
We stood arm in arm. We helped each other. We prayed for each other. We mourned together. We celebrated the heroes who ran toward danger while everyone else was running away.

And that's why, every September 11, I try not only to remember the people we lost, but also to remember the people we became afterward.

Let’s live each day like September 12-

On Friday September 11th 2026, in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, the Hampshire Fire Protection District will be holding a solemn processional and ceremony to honor and remember the victims and first responders that perished in this terrible tragedy.

The processional will step off at 630pm, and follow the normal parade route in town:
Washington Ave, to State St.
State St. To Panama
Panama East to Warner
Warner to Washington ending back at the fire station.

This will be a solemn processional with lights, but no sirens. Please come out along the route and show your support.

Once back at the Fire Station, a ceremony will be conducted starting at or around 7pm.

Washington Ave will be closed between Ash and the Post Office for the ceremony.

Please join us at the ceremony, learn about the memorial at our station and join us as we pay respect and tribute as well as honor and remember those lost on that tragic day.

This week the governor singed new e-bike legislation into law, this will go into effect on January 1st

There is a lot to unpack here, but the full text of the law is here:

https://www.ilga.gov/Legislation/BillStatus/FullText?GAID=18&DocNum=3484&DocTypeID=SB&LegId=0&SessionID=114

Here is a guide explaining the new classes of e bike from the Secretary of State:

The photo in the post is the cliffs notes:

More to come on this, but this is the law of the land starting Jan 1-

Great conversation this morning at The Burlington Bean this morning with Presidents Wlezen of Burlington, President Diehl of Lilly Lake and President Walter of Elburn!

It’s great getting together with our surrounding towns to learn and collaborate, form relationships, and form lasting partnerships.

I am truly blessed to have great relationships with our surrounding village presidents that I can lean on for advice or bounce ideas off of, sometimes it’s good to learn from others instead of reinventing the wheel on our own, plus it’s good to have a support system, because sometimes this job can get lonely.

See you next time guys!

State leaders: Metro West area residents and regional municipal leaders want responsible growth, local input, and infrastructure planning. The BUILD Act would shift zoning authority away from local communities while increasing density without dedicated funding for roads, water, sewer, stormwater, schools, and emergency services. Housing solutions should be built with local voices.
