Had an amazing day connecting ROTC cadets at UC Berkeley, sharing insights into military law, career paths in the JAG Corps, and exploring the Law of Land Warfare and Rules of Engagement. Our Presidio of Monterey JAG team is excited to be invited back for more training sessions on military justice. Grateful for the opportunity to inspire the next generation of military leaders!

JAG Corps members from the Presidio of Monterey Office of the Staff Judge Advocate recently met with the University of California, Berkeley Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC), and conducted a successful day of training and recruiting.

Along with teaching the ROTC cadets about Law of Land Warfare and Rules of Engagement, members of the OSJA shared their experiences and information on career opportunities in the JAG Corps with cadets. The event was so successful that the Presidio of Monterey OSJA team was invited back to provide another training event on military justice.

On Friday the Golden Bear Battalion conducted a change of command ceremony wrapping up the Spring 2024 semester and gearing up for finals week in Berkeley. We appreciate you following along. Our cadets did an amazing job this school year and are prepared to excel at Cadet Summer Training!

Future leaders in action! Oakland Military Institute cadets crushing the JCLC with a little guidance from our Berkeley ROTC cadets.

Cadet Jocelynn Nguyen

Congratulations to this future Army leader! On March 13th Ms. Jocelynn Nguyen was awarded a 4-year ROTC Scholarship at Oakland Military Institute.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate with her grandparents, cousins, teachers, and instructors. Her future is bright! The scholarship was presented by MG (Ret.) Eldon Regua (Senior Advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army), BG Gil Sanborn (Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army), BG (CA) Peter Cross (Commander of California Youth and Community Programs Task Force), LTC Ezekiel Moreno ( ), and the Central California Recruiting Battalion.

Congratulations to this future Army leader! On March 18th Mr. Drew Henderson was awarded a 4-year ROTC Scholarship at Berkeley High School.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate with his parents, teachers, and coaches. It takes a team! The scholarship, valued in excess of $250,000, was formally presented by MG (Ret.) Eldon Regua (Senior Advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army), Gil Sanborn (Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army), LTC Ezekiel Moreno ( ), and the Central California Recruiting Battalion.

Plunging into success! 🏊‍♂️ Bear Battalion tackles the Army CWST, showcasing water survival skills and combat readiness.

This morning the Golden Bear Battalion conducted STX Lanes at the Big C on campus.

Cadets were able to take skills from the classroom and implement it into a tactical environment just 10 minutes from our unit headquarters.

Sharpening our skills in the field with the Golden Bear Battalion! From day to night, we honed our land navigation skill and platoon STX lanes tactics, gearing up for the JFTX next month. 🌟 "

Congratulations to this future Army leader! On March 17th Mr. Brent Jacinto was awarded a 4-year ROTC Scholarship for his outstanding leadership and academic achievement. With a potential value of over $250,000, Brent's future is bright.

The award was formally presented by MG (Ret.) Eldon Regua (Senior Advisor to the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army), Mr. Todd Whitmire (Pittsburg HS Principal), COL (Ret.) Antonio Paz (Pittsburg JROTC Senior Instructor), and LTC Ezekiel Moreno ( ).

This past leadership lab the Golden Bear Battalion conducted a range training on campus. Cadets familiarized themselves with the M4A1 and then shot in 3 different firing positions they are tested in.

A civilian advisor to the military affairs board on campus also got hands on training from our cadre!

This morning the Golden Bear Battalion learned the fundamentals of platoon attack!

ROTC cadets are different in a good way - up early and learning to lead the way as Army Officers!
