Spotted on Longhill 🦓
No two are ever the same.
Each zebra carries its own unique pattern - like a fingerprint written in stripes. Often seen grazing across the plains, they bring movement and rhythm to the landscape.
Simple, striking, and always a favourite sighting.

A game drive is more than just what you see - it’s what you learn along the way.
At Longhill Reserve, our knowledgeable rangers guide you through the landscape, tracking wildlife and sharing insights into animal behaviour, conservation, and the ecosystem that supports it all.
Every drive unfolds differently.

Spotted on Longhill 🐘
One of our newest arrivals… and already making an impression.
Also known as the African savanna elephant, this gentle giant forms part of our growing herd - a meaningful step in our ongoing conservation journey.
Powerful, intelligent, and deeply connected - there’s nothing quite like seeing them in their element.

Small, often overlooked, yet absolutely essential.
This World Bee Day, we’re celebrating one of Longhill’s most important conservation priorities: the Cape Honeybee.
Indigenous to the southern regions of South Africa, this remarkable subspecies is known locally as Kaapse bye, Inyosi, and nyoxi. It’s a true product of this landscape - adapted to the rhythms of the Eastern Cape and deeply connected to the health of the land.
At Longhill Lodge and Reserve, our bee conservation programme is rooted in a simple truth: without bees, ecosystems begin to unravel. These tiny pollinators support the reproduction of countless plant species, sustain food sources for wildlife, and help maintain the biodiversity that defines this region.
Every flower visited, every grain of pollen carried - it all adds up to something far bigger than the bee itself.
Protecting the Cape Honeybee means protecting the future of this environment.

Spotted on Longhill 🐢
Slow, steady, and completely unbothered.
The leopard tortoise might not move fast, but it’s perfectly adapted to life out here. With its beautifully patterned shell and calm presence, it’s a reminder that not everything in the wild needs to rush.
Sometimes, survival is about patience.

There’s a certain kind of quiet you only find in the bush - and it’s even better when you’re sharing it with someone special.
Our Longhill Luxury Tents are designed for exactly that. A private space where comfort meets nature, without losing any of the details that make a stay feel indulgent.
Think a king-sized bed, a full bathroom, and your own deck - the kind where time slips by easily with a glass of wine in hand and nothing but open landscape in front of you. Add a private woodfired hot tub and a braai, and you’ve got everything you need for a stay that feels both grounded and a little bit extraordinary.
Perfect for couples, these tents offer a softer, slower way to experience the Addo region - close to nature, without giving up comfort.
And when you feel like stepping out, the Bush Boma is waiting with a dining experience that brings the flavours of the Eastern Cape to your table.
If you’re after something more personal than a typical lodge stay, this is where you’ll find it.

Every year, the skies above the Eastern Cape tell a story of movement, instinct, and endurance.
This World Migratory Bird Day, we’re celebrating the incredible travellers that pass through Longhill Reserve - species like Barn Swallows, Amur Falcons, European Bee-eaters, and Yellow Wagtails, all journeying thousands of kilometres between continents.
Some arrive here to escape northern winters, others stop briefly to rest and refuel before continuing their journey. What they all share is an extraordinary ability to navigate vast distances, returning to the same regions year after year.
These migrations aren’t just remarkable to witness, they’re essential. Migratory birds play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, controlling insect populations, and supporting biodiversity across entire regions.
At Longhill, every sighting is a reminder that this landscape is part of something much bigger: a global network of habitats that these birds depend on.
So next time you look up, take a moment. You might just be watching a traveller halfway through one of the greatest journeys in the natural world.
