11 September 2026
The South African Youth Council Amathole District extends its warmest and heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the South African Youth Council Eastern Cape
Provincial Structure, following the successful Provincial Biennial Assembly held on 4–5September 2026 in Makhanda, under the theme:
“Mainstreaming Youth Development Through a Consolidated Youth Voice.”
The Provincial Biennial Assembly marks an important milestone in strengthening the voice, representation and participation of young people across the Eastern Cape. As SAYC Amathole
District, we are confident that the newly elected leadership will carry forward the mandate of building a united, representative and impactful youth movement that places the aspirations and developmental needs of young people at the centre of provincial development.
We extend our special congratulations to Siya Dyantyie, who has been elected as the Provincial Secretary. We celebrate her leadership and commitment to youth development and look forward
to the contribution she will make in strengthening coordination, accountability and the
organisational work of SAYC across the province.
We further extend our special and heartfelt congratulations to Buhle Mpumlo, newly elected Provincial Chairperson of SAYC Eastern Cape.
As the SAYC Amathole District, we are particularly proud that Buhle Mpumlo hails from the Amathole District. His election to this important provincial leadership position is a source of
great pride to the district and demonstrates the calibre, commitment and leadership capacity that exists within our structures.
We have no doubt that Mr Mpumlo will serve with integrity, humility and dedication, and that he will continue to champion the interests of young people throughout the Eastern Cape. His election is not only a personal achievement, but also an achievement for the entire Amathole youth
constituency.
As the newly elected provincial leadership assumes its responsibilities, we call upon all SAYC structures, municipalities, youth formations and stakeholders to rally behind the new leadership and work collectively towards a consolidated youth voice capable of influencing policy, advancing youth development and confronting the challenges facing young people.
The challenges of youth unemployment, poverty, inequality, gender-based violence and femicide, limited economic opportunities, access to education, mental health and meaningful youth
participation require a united and organised youth movement.
As Amathole District, we reaffirm our commitment to working with the new provincial leadership in advancing a youth agenda that is inclusive, progressive, transformative and responsive to the realities of young people across the Eastern Cape.
We wish the newly elected Provincial Executive Committee strength, wisdom and success as they take forward the mandate entrusted to them by the young people of the Eastern Cape.
