FINAL LEG OF RURAL INTEGRATED SERVICE DELIVERY PROGRAMME HELD IN WARD 18, UTOPIA FARM

Dihlabeng Local Municipality has successfully concluded its Mayoral Rural Integrated Service Delivery Programme, with the final engagement held on 18 October 2026 at Utopia Farm in Ward 18.

Led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr Tseki Tseki, the programme marks the completion of visits to all farms surrounding Dihlabeng Local Municipality. The session was also attended by residents from farms surrounding Utopia Farm.

Facilitated by the Housing Department under Mr Mafika Nhlapo, the engagement provided farm communities with an opportunity to raise service delivery challenges affecting their areas.

Residents raised concerns relating to housing, water shortages, electricity, poor road conditions, sanitation, unemployment, substance abuse and the lack of recreational facilities for youth.

The Executive Mayor confirmed that concerns raised across all farms have been heard, with some already resolved while others remain pending and will be attended to. For Utopia Farm and surrounding farms, interventions will include road grading, provision of JoJo tanks, assistance with housing applications, improved sanitation and the development of a sports ground. The Municipality will also engage relevant stakeholders on employment, community safety and other essential services.

In support of local economic empowerment, the Executive Mayor, together with Mr Sam Mpada from Motswako Production, donated equipment to young women to help them start a chips and takeaway business.

The programme also included a Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) awareness session led by Mr Mafika Nhlapo.

The Municipality reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that service delivery reaches all farm communities and that no one is left behind.
