FREE STATE GIRLS FLY THE SOUTH AFRICAN FLAG HIGH IN ROBOTICS
The ANC-led Free State Government is proud to celebrate six outstanding young girls from Sentinel Primary School in QwaQwa, who have demonstrated that the future belongs to those who dare to innovate.
Their groundbreaking robotics project enables a school garden irrigation system to be controlled remotely using a cellphone—an innovation that earned them the opportunity to represent South Africa at the World Robot Olympiad in Singapore.
The team's excellence extends beyond the international stage. Two of the learners, Mosa Motsoeneng and Molokeng Makgohlo, also secured third place at the Eskom International Science Fair, showcasing the exceptional talent emerging from the Free State.
Premier Comrade MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae congratulated the learners, reaffirming the province's commitment to making education fashionable and ensuring that learners are equipped with the skills needed for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
These remarkable young innovators are proof that when government invests in quality education, technology and young people, communities prosper and dreams become reality.
Congratulations to our future scientists, engineers and innovators. The Free State is proud of you!

A GOVERNMENT THAT ACTS. A PROVINCE THAT LEADS.
The ANC-led Free State Government continues to demonstrate decisive leadership in protecting farmers, consumers, rural jobs, food security and the agricultural economy.
Under the stewardship of MEC Comrade Elzabe Rockman, the province has delivered one of the strongest responses to Foot-and-Mouth Disease, with 1 053 502 cattle vaccinated through a disciplined, consultative and risk-based programme.
This is what government at work looks like: urgent, organised, responsive and focused on protecting livelihoods.
Protecting farmers. Protecting consumers. Protecting the Free State agricultural economy.

The struggle for justice does not end at our borders.
Today, the ANC in the Free State joined a discussion on the humanitarian situation facing the people of Cuba and the practical ways in which ordinary people can express international solidarity.
For decades, Cuba stood firmly with the oppressed people of Africa. Cuban internationalists made sacrifices in support of the liberation struggles of Southern Africa, inspired not by material gain, but by a profound commitment to justice, equality and human dignity. That history can never be forgotten.
Today, Cuba faces significant challenges, including shortages of electricity, medicine and food. These difficulties remind us that solidarity is not a slogan reserved for speeches and commemorations. It is a living principle that calls on people to act, organise and support one another in times of need.
The ANC has always understood that our freedom is inseparable from the freedom and dignity of others. International solidarity is therefore not charity. It is an affirmation of our shared humanity and our common struggle for a more just and equitable world.
As we reflect on the plight of the Cuban people, we are reminded that communities need not wait for governments alone to make a difference. Every contribution, no matter how modest, carries with it a message of hope and friendship.
The battle of ideas remains as important today as ever. We must continue to educate, organise and inspire especially the youth to uphold the values of peace, justice, anti-imperialism and international solidarity.
An injury to one is an injury to all.

Bringing Quality Education Closer to Rural Communities
The ANC-led Free State Government continues to invest in the future of our children through the development of modern educational infrastructure across the province.
Oranjekrag Combined School, situated in Hydropark near Gariep Dam in the Xhariep District, is set to provide a safe and dignified learning environment for 208 learners drawn from both the township and surrounding farming communities.
Beyond providing quality classrooms and learner facilities, the school’s new hostel will significantly reduce the burden faced by many farm families who travel long distances to ensure their children can access education.
For families such as that of Mr Soffel Fourie, a farm worker at Merino Farm, the hostel represents more than a building—it represents relief, opportunity and hope. Every weekend, his wife Rachel walks a combined 26 kilometres to collect and return their son and grandchildren from school.
“With the new hostel, they won’t have anything to worry about and will only focus on their studies,” says Fourie.
This is what service delivery looks like: creating opportunities, restoring dignity and ensuring that where a child lives does not determine the quality of education they receive.
The ANC remains committed to building better communities and expanding access to quality education for all.
