Mangaung residents have the power to judge ANC’s record of chaos at voting polls
by Werner Pretorius MPL - DA Mangaung Mayoral Candidate

Date: 15 October 2026
Release: Immediate

The DA respects the rule of law and the Constitutional Court's judgment. The judgement raises serious concerns about the precedent it sets for complying with the IEC’s deadlines and requirements, as courts have held that strict, mechanical compliance applies to deadlines in every matter to date.

Residents across Mangaung are tired of the chaos under the ANC. A party that cannot submit lists on time cannot be trusted to manage Mangaung's R14 billion budget. Only the DA is big enough to beat the ANC, and when we do that, we get towns and cities working.

The DA has been campaigning hard in every community across Mangaung, and we have a terrific head start over the ANC and its candidates that were hamstrung by their negligence with their lists.

On 4 November, residents of the Metro must now ‘pass judgement' on the ANC’s poor governance record and chaos by voting them out! The DA is ready to become the largest party in Mangaung and bring stability, clean, effective governance, service delivery, and jobs.

The contrast is clear! 🏊‍♂️

While ANC-governed municipalities leave community pools, like this one in Bloemfontein, abandoned and derelict, well-managed cities show what’s truly possible when public spaces are properly maintained for families and communities to enjoy.

The DA difference in action. 💙

🔵Negligence collapses sewage plants in THABA NCHU and BOTSHABELO 🔵

Residents of Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo deserve clean, safe communities — not raw sewage flooding homes, schools and clinics, contaminating rivers and putting public health at risk.

The DA is calling for urgent emergency repairs, temporary treatment solutions, qualified technical staff and transparent oversight to ensure infrastructure is restored and maintained properly.

💧 Mangaung needs functioning sewage infrastructure, responsible spending and accountability to protect residents and the environment.

🔵 The DA will continue fighting for safe communities, reliable service delivery and a municipality that puts residents first.

🔵 100 DAYS LATER: Mangaung Failures or Maintaining Infrastructure 🔵

More than 100 days since Dr Malefane Sekoboto’s reappointment as Centlec CEO, the DA is demanding answers on the maintenance and reliability of Mangaung’s electricity infrastructure.

Centlec must account for its maintenance plans, outstanding repairs, recurring power outages, streetlight faults, spending and the measures being taken to prevent future failures.

💡 Mangaung needs preventative maintenance, reliable electricity and transparency — not just explanations after the power goes out.

The people of Mangaung deserve a professional, accountable electricity utility that maintains infrastructure before it fails.

A DA government will bring services, jobs and dignity to Botshabelo
by Werner Pretorius MPL - DA Mangaung Mayoral Candidate

Date: 14 October 2026
Release: Immediate

Today, the DA unveiled our Working For All billboard in Botshabelo, pledging our commitment to quality service delivery, economic growth, and job creation in the town.

For decades, Botshabelo residents have faced severe infrastructure neglect and poor service delivery, affecting the dignity, lives, and livelihoods of the more than 220,000 people who call Botshabelo home.

In government, the DA will work tirelessly to find short- and long-term solutions to the toilet bucket system, pit latrines and regular sewerage spillages in town. The DA welcomes Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Dr Jack Bloom's, recent oversight visit to the Botshabelo Wastewater Treatment Plant, demanding answers and a plan to get the plant fully operational.

The plant has been a serious concern for years, operating below capacity, with regular theft and vandalism reported.

Road infrastructure across Botshabelo also requires substantial work. If our roads don’t work, our people will not work.

Over the 4 years from 2021 to 2025, the ANC-led administration underspent around R340 million of the Informal Settlement Upgrading Partnership Grant. These funds should have been used to provide bulk infrastructure to informal settlements across Botshabelo, improving the living conditions and dignity of thousands of residents.

Botshabelo has immense potential as an economic hub, but it needs well-maintained basic infrastructure and good governance to attract investment. In local government, the DA will work closely with development partners and the private sector to revitalise the Botshabelo Industrial Park.

With the unveiling of our billboard, the DA sends a message: a working local government for the people of Botshabelo.

On 4 November, Botshabelo residents must unite behind a strong DA to govern more wards and become the biggest party in Mangaung. Our message is clear: Botshabelo Can Work For All.
