Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise global public awareness of the challenges to the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports. The Day also recognizes a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth, to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of the present and future generations of humanity.
The UN General Assembly designated 22 April as International Mother Earth Day through resolution A/RES/63/278, adopted in 2009. Visit us at: www.afpmv-faavm.org

November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 26/11/2021

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Resolution 54/134). The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to r**e, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.
Women play a crucial role in the identification, conservation, management and interpretation of World Heritage sites, and they make up a large proportion of the workforce in the communities in and around the properties including in tourism activities related to World Heritage.
Despite advocacy efforts, they still face – whatever their background and age – daily challenges in the mission to transmit our common heritage to future generations. For example, women working in the hospitality and tourism sector, in particular, are reported by UN Women to face risks of violence and harassment that are much higher than for men.
