Did You Know?
As far back as 2006, the municipality bought a paving machine with plans to establish a paving plant. That plant was not a luxury, it was a promise of jobs, skills, and local economic development. Today, that machine lies broken, abandoned, and forgotten.
The EFF made enquiries and discovered that repairing it would cost approximately R1.5 million. But here is the painful truth: if that plant were operational, it could create more than 500 jobs in Nala. That is more than 500 families, 500 livelihoods, and 500 reasons for the municipality to act.
Instead, we have another monument to mismanagement, neglect, and broken promises. Public money was spent. Public assets are rotting. Our people are suffering and unemployed.
The EFF administration will prioritise the repair of this machine and the opening of that paving plant.
