The Overberg welcomed 140 972 visitors in the first six months of this year – a number down 6% from the first half of 2025, but still holding considerable promise for convincing more visitors to travel all the way south to Cape Agulhas.

The local tourism industry is not to be underestimated, as it makes up most of the visitors to our region. More than three quarters (76%) of tourists reported were domestic, with an overwhelming majority travelling from within the Western Cape’s borders (86%).

These insights come from a recent report by Wesgro – an agency promoting tourism, trade and investment in the Western Cape – that outlines tourism visitor trends in the Overberg from January to July of this year, including data from the Cape Agulhas tourism office.
