REVOLUTIONARY GREETINGS TO THE CPUT COMMUNITY 💚

The PASMA D6 Branch sends revolutionary greetings to the entire CPUT community during these difficult times for students.

We write with deep pain and concern about the growing safety challenges faced by students at CPUT and across the country. Students should be able to live, study and move around campus without constantly fearing for their safety.

Yesterday, CPUT Management issued a newsflash calling on students to wear black in mourning of the nine women who were brutally murdered in Kempton Park. We mourn them as daughters of the soil.

However, we must also ask, What about the CPUT student who was assaulted in a university residence at Bellville Campus and is now forced to seek justice through the courts for a crime that happened within the institution?

This exposes a fundamental contradiction. CPUT wants to mourn GBV nationally while failing to protect its own students from GBV internally. You cannot wear black for cameras while students are bleeding in your residences.

We therefore state want to bring into the clear that,
Security of students is not a favour, it is a duty. The university has a primary responsibility to guarantee safety in all its residences, campuses and facilities. Students cannot be expected to learn while living in fear of assault.

GBV is a systemic crisis. Gender-Based Violence knows no gender, sexuality or background. It is a threat to every student. The fight against it must be principled, inclusive, and centred on the dignity of all students.
Silence is betrayal. No student should suffer in silence.

As PASMA, we do not condone any form of Gender-Based Violence. We stand for inclusive and dignified spaces for every student.

If you are a D6 Campus student who has experienced GBV, assault, harassment or intimidation, do not suffer alone. Reach out for assistance. LSRC Gender and Diversity Officer, [email protected].

Your life matters.
Your dignity is non-negotiable.
You deserve to be heard, protected and supported.
And lastly Speak out against GBVF

Yours in Revolution,
PASMA D6✋🏿💚

Greetings CPUT students,

We hope this communique finds you well.

We have noted the challenge faced by some students who rely on taxis for transport and are unable to make it to their examination venues due to the current situation.

As we escalate this matter to the relevant HODs and Deans, we kindly request affected students to indicate the course/module for which they are scheduled to write

Revolutionary greetings CPUT populace,

We hope this communique finds you in good health.

This serves as an update regarding FBMS appeals. The faculty sat to consider appeals on the 19th, with the 21st being the final day of the appeals sitting. All students whose appeals were successful have now been formally communicated with via email. However, students are also advised to check the SOS to confirm whether they are able to proceed with registration, as some may not receive an email.

Students who received confirmation of a successful appeal and do not have a financial block should now be able to proceed with registration.

*PASMA STATEMENT: IMPORTANT NOTICE ON PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION*
06 January 2026

PASMA wishes to advise all students who were previously staying in private accommodation and intend to return to their respective private accommodation or move to another private accommodation, to log in to their FUNDI portal and indicate accordingly.

This is crucial to avoid delays in the submission of registration templates to NSFAS by the University, which could negatively affect students funding. Furthermore, we would like to strongly advise students NOT to register for private accommodation via the NSFAS portal.

Please note that CPUT is NOT part of the NSFAS private accommodation pilot project. At CPUT, private accommodation processes are handled only through FUNDI, unless officially communicated otherwise by the Financial Aid Office (FAO) via a formal newsflash.

Students are urged to comply with the above to prevent unnecessary delays and complications.

Yours in Leadership
PASMA💚
