ATLANTIC SEABOARD RESPONSE GROUP NETS ANOTHER TWO ARRESTS:
Earlier this week, the Atlantic Seaboard Response Group was made aware of an attempted chain-snatching in the Mouille Point area, which was captured on CCTV. Importantly, the incident was reported to SAPS and a criminal case was opened.

This morning, the vehicle involved was spotted again in the area. The information was immediately shared through the Atlantic Seaboard Response Group, with PPA, Platform 1, City of Cape Town Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety Officers and WatchTower Group deploying to cover the vehicle and surrounding area.

Through Sea Point CID CCTV camera network, it was established that two suspects had walked towards the beachfront. Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety Officers and Jacques Weber , co-founder of the Atlantic Seaboard Response Group and WatchTower Group, immediately deployed to the location. The suspects were kept under observation, stopped shortly afterwards and successfully arrested by Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety Officers in connection with last week’s attempted chain-snatching incident.

As the original crime had been reported to SAPS, SAPS detectives and management structures were able to immediately give the instruction for the arrests to be effected.

This again highlights why reporting crime and opening a case is essential. Camera technology and shared intelligence help identify those involved, while a formal SAPS case allows law enforcement to take the necessary action when suspects are located.

Jacques Weber said that, through the use of sophisticated cameras, strong partnerships and good police work, the group would continue fighting the surge of crime on Atlantic Seaboard streets. “We will continue to work together to ensure that those targeting our community are identified, arrested and held accountable.”

MULTIPLE SUSPECTS APPREHENDED BY ATLANTIC SEABOARD RESPONSE GROUP:
Advanced technology cameras detected that the suspects were back in the area following a house robbery in Hout Bay yesterday, leading to the interception of three vehicles and the arrest of eight suspects.

The suspects allegedly posed as water-meter workers before restraining both the homeowner and domestic worker. Despite false number plates, the vehicles were traced and monitored as they moved through the Atlantic Seaboard.

CT Metro Police, Law Enforcement, Auxiliary Law Enforcement, SAPS, SRG Security, Camps Bay CID, Clifton CID and Sea Point CID worked together to intercept the vehicles in Camps Bay. The Atlantic Seaboard Response Group kept information moving rapidly between areas and assisted with coordinating the response.

Three vehicles linked to the suspects were stopped, and the suspects were transferred to Hout Bay SAPS for further investigation.

Atlantic Seaboard Response Group founder Jacques Weber again highlighted the power of joint partnerships: criminals do not respect area boundaries, and neither can those tasked with keeping communities safe. Fast, trusted information-sharing and coordinated action from one area to the next remain among the strongest tools in securing the Atlantic Seaboard.

Thank you to every enforcment officer, CID team member and all responder involved.
