📚🌟Information Literacy at Lotus River Public Library!🌟 📚

Today we hosted another inspiring Information Literacy session as part of the WISE Programme, and what a morning it was! 👏

We started with a ice breaker called "Myth or Medicine", where participants voted FACT or MYTH on common breast cancer claims. It got everyone talking and showed how easily health myths spread and why checking our sources matters.💗

Our participants then split into two teams and took on a team challenge to practise spotting reliable information, questioning what we reqd and hear and telling fact from fiction. 🔎

In a world full of information, knowing what to trust is a powerful skill. Thank you to all the ladies who joined us and brought such energy and curiosity. 🌟

WISE WOMEN’S PROGRAMME KICKS OFF AT LOTUS RIVER LIBRARY!

Yesterday marked the exciting launch of our WISE (Women’s Information Skills Empowerment) Programme at Lotus River Library, and what a wonderful start it was! 🌷📚

We were honoured to have Cllr Gerry Gordon welcome our participating ladies and share words of encouragement as they begin this exciting journey of learning, growth and empowerment. Thank you for your support and for inspiring our ladies!

A special thank you to our very own Amina Essa, who did an excellent job welcoming the ladies and giving them a brief introduction to what the WISE Programme is all about. Your warm welcome helped set the tone for a positive and inspiring experience.

Our staff member Virgil Jacobs had the honour of presenting the very first session, Library Orientation, introducing the ladies to the wonderful resources, services and opportunities available at their library.

The ladies were excited and enthusiastic about the informative session, and it was truly encouraging to see their eagerness to learn. They are already looking forward to Session 2: Information Literacy!

At Lotus River Library, we believe that knowledge is power, and through WISE, we aim to empower women with the information and skills they need to grow in confidence, embrace opportunities and make informed decisions.
