“WE WERE SENT BY VAKURU” — Deejay Holy Pressured to Delete Story on Obey Chimuka & Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr

Following his recent reporting involving businessman Obey Chimuka and Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr, Deejay Holy says he has received a series of WhatsApp messages and telephone calls from different individuals asking him to remove material he published.

Screenshots preserved by Deejay Holy show one individual asking about material posted on his page before sending the message: “Can you please delete it.”

A separate WhatsApp account made several calls before sending another message stating: “Can you please delete today.”

According to Deejay Holy, during the communications he was also told that the individuals had been “sent by vakuru” — a Shona expression that can refer to elders, senior figures or leaders.

However, based on the evidence currently available, the identity of the alleged “vakuru” has not been independently established, nor has evidence been produced showing who, if anyone, instructed the individuals to contact Deejay Holy.

One of the WhatsApp accounts displayed a profile photograph of Kuda Tagwirei, while another individual identified himself to Deejay Holy as “Marist.” A profile photograph alone does not establish that an account belongs to, represents, or is authorised by the person pictured.

Deejay Holy says he has preserved the original WhatsApp communications, call records and screenshots and is now investigating who contacted him, who they meant by “vakuru,” and whether anyone instructed them to seek the removal of his reporting.

The available screenshots show that multiple individuals contacted Deejay Holy requesting the deletion of material. They do not independently establish that Obey Chimuka, Kuda Tagwirei, Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr, the SDA Church, or any other named person or organisation instructed those individuals to make contact.

Deejay Holy says all parties concerned will be afforded an opportunity to respond, and any further evidence obtained will be assessed before publication.

The investigation continues.

Chimuka and Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr Reportedly at Crossroads as Private-Message Dispute Deepens

Fossil Group chief executive Obey Chimuka and Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr are reportedly at the centre of a widening personal dispute involving a female TikTok content creator, Chimuka’s girlfriend and socialite Pokello Nare.

According to information supplied to this publication, the dispute allegedly began after Pokello Nare saw private WhatsApp messages on her husband Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr’s phone. The messages allegedly suggested that Mnangagwa Jr and the female TikTok content creator were in a relationship.

The identities of all the people involved, the precise contents of the messages and the circumstances in which they were viewed or shared have not been independently verified.

Sources allege that Chimuka’s girlfriend, who is described as a TikTok content creator, became connected to the dispute after the alleged relationship came to light. Claims that she was followed or assaulted remain unproven, and this publication has not established who, if anyone, was responsible.

It has also been alleged that Chimuka became angered by the circulation of the information and spent part of last week attempting to identify its source. Claims that members of the police’s Criminal Investigation Department, commonly referred to as CID, were engaged for that purpose have not been substantiated.

No police report, medical record, court document or official statement confirming the alleged tracking or assault had been obtained by the time of publication.

Separate allegations concerning Chimuka’s private relationships have reportedly generated discussion within his church community. A Seventh-day Adventist Church member has approached this publication and indicated a willingness to provide an interview and supporting information.

Those claims concern private individuals and will only be reported in detail if they can be independently verified and shown to be relevant to a matter of legitimate public interest. Personal relationships, financial assistance and property ownership should not be presented as established facts without reliable evidence.

This publication is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged messages, the reported relationship, the alleged assault and claims that individuals were tracked after receiving or sharing the information.

Chimuka, Mnangagwa Jr, Nare, the female TikTok content creator, the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Zimbabwe Republic Police should each be given an opportunity to respond before a final version of this story is published. Their responses will be carried fully and fairly.

The allegations remain unproven. No person named in this report has been charged or found guilty of wrongdoing in connection with the claims.
