The Deputy Minister of the Department of Basic Education (DBE) Dr. Makgabo Reginah Mhaule, addressed delegates at the South African Teachers’ Union (SAOU) Congress, highlighting the importance of strengthening collaboration and fostering constructive relationships between the Department and organised labour. The Deputy Minister emphasised that effective cooperation between the employer and trade unions is essential to advancing quality education, promoting labour peace, and ensuring improved service delivery within the education sector.
The South African Teachers’ Union (SAOU) Congress provided an important platform for engagement between key stakeholders, allowing participants to exchange views, strengthen partnerships, and reaffirm their shared commitment to addressing challenges in the education sector through cooperation, dialogue, and mutual respect.
