💆‍♀️ For massage and wellness professionals: Understanding common skin conditions is an important part of client consultation and knowing when a treatment should be postponed or referred for medical assessment.

A red, itchy or irritated patch of skin can have many different causes — and knowing the differences can help you understand when professional advice may be needed.

This helpful guide highlights some common skin conditions, including:
🔴 Psoriasis – well-defined patches with thick, silvery scales
🟠 Urticaria (Hives) – raised, itchy welts that can appear and disappear quickly
🟢 Contact Dermatitis – inflammation caused by an irritant or allergen
🟣 Herpes Zoster (Shingles) – painful, fluid-filled blisters, usually on one side
🔵 Ringworm – a circular, scaly rash with a raised border
🩷 Impetigo – sores or blisters that can develop honey-coloured crusts
