ACTIVE ACCIDENT | BUFFELSDRAAI ROAD
A single vehicle accident has been reported on Buffelsdraai Road, Redcliffe.
It is alleged that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. A white Nissan NP200 overturned, resulting in injuries to both the male driver and a female passenger, who were ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency services are on scene attending to the injured. Motorists are urged to proceed with caution and expect delays in the area.

DMPS SEARCH AND RESCUE JOINS FORCES in INTENSIVE HAZELMERE DAM SEARCH
The search for a missing person at Hazelmere Dam resumed today (Sunday) following a reported drowning incident.
Initial search efforts commenced on Friday afternoon; however, poor visibility prevented water-based search operations from being conducted safely. The official search operation continued on Saturday and resumed again today with no success in locating the missing person at this stage.
The operation involves members from Durban Metro Police Service Search and Rescue, South African Police Service Search and Rescue, SAPS K9 Unit from Pietermaritzburg, and SAPS Diving Services, who continue to work tirelessly in challenging conditions.
Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the missing person during this difficult time. We thank all emergency personnel for their dedication and commitment to the search efforts.

ACTIVE ACCIDENT | OAKFORD
Emergency services are currently attending to a serious motor vehicle collision on Oakford Road, Oakford.
The incident involves a minibus taxi and a bakkie. Multiple injuries have been reported, and emergency personnel are on scene providing medical assistance and managing the incident.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area, expect delays, and proceed with caution while emergency services carry out their duties.

DRUG BUST | CHATSWORTH
An intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Durban Metro Police Service resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old male in the Chatsworth area on 30 May 2026.
During the operation, officers recovered:
● 280 capsules of suspected he**in
● 1,250 pieces of suspected rock co***ne
● 375 tablets of suspected mandrax
● R179,400 in suspected proceeds of crime
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately R154,950.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Chatsworth SAPS on charges relating to the possession of suspected drugs and proceeds of crime.
Durban Metro Police Service remains committed to removing drugs from our communities and targeting individuals involved in the distribution of illegal substances.

BY-LAW COMPLIANCE OPERATION | DURBAN CBD
Members of the Durban Metro Police By-Law Compliance Unit, together with the Albert Park Hawker Unit, conducted a follow-up inspection on Dr Pixley KaSeme Street(West Street) between Park Street and Joseph Nduli Street.
The operation focused on businesses that were previously closed during the recent "Bring Back My City" operation. The objective was to ensure compliance with notices issued by municipal departments and relevant legislation.
During the inspection, several businesses that had been ordered to close were found operating unlawfully. These businesses were immediately shut down again and warned that continued non-compliance may result in arrests and prosecution where applicable.
Further inspections revealed that a number of businesses had failed to comply with notices issued by the Environmental Health Department. Additional notices were served, and the affected businesses have been instructed to remain closed until all compliance requirements have been met.
The Durban Metro Police Service wishes to make it clear that all businesses, regardless of who owns or operates them, must comply with South African laws and municipal by-laws. Businesses that continue to disregard lawful instructions and reopen illegally will face enforcement action.

HAWKER ENFORCEMENT OPERATION | DURBAN CBD
Durban Metro Police, Bylaw Special Operations Unit conducted a Hawker Enforcement Operation on Bertha Mkhize Street in the Durban CBD.
The operation focused on addressing illegal trading activities, ensuring compliance with municipal by-laws, and improving pedestrian access and public safety within the city centre.
Members engaged with traders, conducted inspections, and took the necessary enforcement action where non-compliance was identified.
Durban Metro Police remains committed to maintaining order in public spaces and supporting a safe, clean, and well-managed city.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY OPERATION | ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT
Durban Metro Police SOD1 – Bylaw Special Operations, together with various municipal departments, conducted a Gijima Multi-Disciplinary Operation focusing on business compliance inspections at Boardwalk Arcade in the Durban CBD.
During the operation, several businesses were inspected for compliance with municipal by-laws, labour regulations, and immigration requirements.
As a result of the operation, 6 undocumented foreign nationals were identified, verified, and arrested for being in the country illegally. The suspects are currently being processed at Durban Central SAPS.
Durban Metro Police remains committed to supporting integrated law enforcement operations aimed at ensuring compliance with South African laws and creating a safer, lawful business environment.

DMPS 5KM & 10KM FITNESS RUN A HUGE SUCCESS
This morning, members of the Durban Metro Police Service (including office staff members), South African Police Service (SAPS) and SMU came together for a successful 5km and 10km Fitness Run along the Durban beachfront.
The event promoted physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and mental resilience among law enforcement members. Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is essential for officers who serve and protect our communities under demanding conditions.
With the end of the month approaching and operational demands increasing, our members remain focused, fit, and ready to continue delivering on our mandate of crime prevention, traffic management, and by-law enforcement.
A big thank you to all participants, organisers, and supporting stakeholders who contributed to the success of this event.
