IS YOUR FIRE HOSE REEL COMPLIANT?

A fire hose reel is only as reliable as the standards it meets — and simply seeing “SANS 1086” printed on the hose doesn’t guarantee that it’s genuine or compliant.

Before you buy or install one, make sure you know where the hose comes from and whether it is properly certified.

Ask your supplier:
✔️ Is the hose SANS 1086 certified?
✔️ Can you provide the SABS certificate from the hose manufacturer?
✔️ Was the reel locally assembled or imported?
✔️ Can you provide the relevant SABS 543 certificate?

And compliance doesn’t stop once it’s installed.

Fire hose reels need regular inspection and maintenance. Make sure your fire equipment is serviced annually by an authorized person working for a SANS 1475 certified company.

Don’t just look for a SANS marking. Make sure you can verify it.
