Here are 3 steps every homeowner should understand before any electrical installation:

1️⃣ Plan the Load – Know what you’re connecting. Geysers, stoves, aircons and plugs all draw different amps. Always check if your DB board can handle the extra load.

2️⃣ Choose the Right Cable Size – Undersized cables overheat. For example, a stove circuit needs a thicker cable than a normal plug point. Correct sizing protects your appliances and prevents fires.

3️⃣ Use Correct Protection – Every circuit must have the right breaker and, where needed, an earth leakage. This is your last line of defence when faults occur.

Adding a new kitchen plug? Use 2.5 mm² cabling, run it on its own circuit, and protect it with a 20A breaker. Simple, safe, compliant.
