The Executive Mayor and Councillor Ashwill Oktober (Chairperson for Community Services – GOOD) visited the local taxi rank today. The purpose of the visit was to engage directly with taxi operators and drivers, listen to their concerns and complaints, and discuss how the municipality can improve service delivery and infrastructure at the rank.

Raadslede moet die voorbeeld stel om munisipale rekeninge te betaal.

As openbare verteenwoordigers het raadslede ’n plig om dieselfde wette, beleide en verantwoordelikhede as elke inwoner te gehoorsaam.

Om munisipale rekeninge betyds te betaal, is nie opsioneel nie. Dit verseker dat die munisipaliteit die nodige inkomste het om water, elektrisiteit, vullisverwydering, paaie en nooddienste aan alle gemeenskappe te lewer.

Ek, raadslid Ashwill Oktober, doen ’n beroep op alle raadslede om te verseker dat hul munisipale rekeninge vanaf hierdie maand ten volle en betyds betaal word.

LEIERSKAP word deur optrede gedemonstreer en ons kan nie van inwoners verwag om te doen wat ons nie bereid is om self te doen nie.

Councillors must lead by example in paying municipal accounts.

As public representatives, Councillors have a duty to uphold the same laws, policies and responsibilities as every resident.

Paying municipal accounts on time is not optional. It ensures that the municipality has the revenue needed to deliver water, electricity, refuse removal, roads and emergency service to all communities.

I, Councillor Ashwill Oktober, call on all Councillors to ensure their municipal accounts are paid in full and on time from this month.

LEADERSHIP is demonstrated through action and we cannot ask residents to do what we are not willing to do ourselves.

Accountability begins at the top.

🔴 THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE: Our people are still living in appalling conditions! 🔴

​It is heartbreaking and shocking that the bucket toilet system still exists in the rural areas of Oudtshoorn today. Today, GOOD Councillor Oktober visited a farm where residents are forced to live under these harsh and undignified conditions.

​As a representative of the GOOD party, Cllr Oktober stands firmly against injustice and speaks out against every form of unfair treatment in our communities. It is a complete violation of human dignity that our people—especially our elderly citizens—still have to rely on a bucket toilet system or are forced to make use of the bush. 💔
​Immediate action is being taken:
​Urgent Engagement: Cllr Oktober has immediately engaged with the Housing Department of the Municipality.

​The Demand: A full investigation into the matter must happen now, and the municipality must supply these residents with mobile toilets as an immediate relief measure.

​We cannot stay silent while our vulnerable communities and elderly suffer like this. GOOD will continue to fight for justice, proper service delivery, and human dignity for all!
