🚨🐍 MEET ZAMENIS — THE LATEST ADDITION TO THE LEGACY EMS FLEET! ⚡💚

We are proud to introduce our BYD Shark, call sign Zamenis, serving as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) response vehicle — bringing advanced emergency care to our community.

🐍 What’s behind the name?
Zamenis is a genus of non-venomous snakes that includes the Aesculapian snake (Zamenis longissimus), associated with the Rod of Asclepius — the timeless symbol of medicine and healing found within the EMS Star of Life. A fitting connection for a vehicle dedicated to saving lives!

⚡ Electric innovation meets impressive capability!
The BYD Shark is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), combining dual electric motors with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It can drive on electric power alone, with petrol-electric capability for longer journeys.

⚡ Up to 85 km of electric-only driving range under WLTP test conditions
💪 321 kW of power and 650 Nm of torque
🛞 All-wheel drive with dedicated off-road terrain modes
🏁 0–100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds

These manufacturer specifications showcase the technology behind our newest response vehicle; actual electric range varies with operating conditions.

For Legacy EMS, that capability serves one purpose: supporting our ALS team in bringing skilled care where it is needed.

As we recognise International Trauma Day, Legacy Emergency Medical Services honours everyone involved in trauma care — our EMS colleagues, emergency services, hospital teams, dispatchers and the support staff who help make that care possible.

We see the long hours, the difficult decisions and the moments you carry home long after your shift has ended. Thank you for the dignity you protect, the comfort you offer and the hope you bring, even when the outcome is beyond your control.

To everyone living with the effects of trauma: your experience matters, and you deserve care, understanding and support.

And to those who care for others: you deserve that same compassion. Check in on your colleagues, make space to talk, and allow yourselves to receive support too.
