🚒 HELP US EQUIP GREYTON’S NEW FIRE TRUCK 🚒

Our community has always stood behind Greyton Volunteer Firefighters, and we’re asking for your support once again. ❤️

The generosity shown at our recent fundraising competition gave us a much needed boost and helped cover urgent expenses. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed. However, funds remain stretched, and we now need help purchasing essential equipment for our new fire truck.

Our goal is to raise **R52,757.92** to purchase:

🔥 A new firefighting pump
🔥 Two hose reels, each complete with 60 metres of hose

This equipment will help our volunteers put the new truck to work protecting our community and the beautiful surroundings we call home.

Whether you’re an individual, a family or a local business, any contribution towards this purchase will help. You could donate towards the overall cost or help fund a specific item.

**Your donation can also make a difference at tax time.** GVF is now a SARS-registered Public Benefit Organisation with Section 18A approval. We can issue Section 18A tax certificates for qualifying donations, allowing individuals and businesses to claim a tax deduction, subject to SARS requirements.

🔥 THANK YOU, GREYTON! 🇿🇦🚒

What a Heritage Day! Our first GVF Potjiekos Competition brought our community together for good food, plenty of gees and a cause close to all our hearts.

To the cooking teams who braved the heat, the organisers and volunteers who worked behind the scenes, the judges, everyone who donated, and every person who bought a meal or raffle ticket or came along with their family, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! You made the day possible.

Together, we raised an incredible R35,000 towards a much needed new pump and two hose reels for the new red truck. Your support helps equip our volunteer firefighters and keep them safe as we prepare for the coming fire season.

Congratulations to Wiehan for Best Potjie, Tim’s Seafood Pot and Brett’s Beef Curry for second and third place, and Mischa and the Park Street Crew for Best Gees! 🏆

Greyton, you showed up for us. We’re grateful to be part of this community and judging by the turnout, we may need a few more potjies next year! ❤️

🔥 International Firefighters’ Day in Bredasdorp 🔥

Yesterday, Greyton Volunteer Firefighters had the honour of being invited to take part in the International Firefighters’ Day event in Bredasdorp.

It was an incredible day dedicated to firefighters, volunteers, and the important work done by teams across our communities. We were truly honoured to be included and to stand alongside so many dedicated men and women who give their time, energy, and commitment to keeping others safe.

A big highlight for us was taking part in the convoy parade around Bredasdorp, and we also got to show off our Unimog in the 4x4 competition, which was great fun and a proud moment for the team!

Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a meaningful and enjoyable day. We are grateful to have been part of it. 🚒🔥

We are incredibly honoured and proud to have been given the opportunity to lead out the Elite Woman cyclists on Stage 4 of the 2026 Cape Epic yesterday.
It was a truly memorable experience, and so inspiring to witness our community come together in support of such an incredible event. A special thank you to everyone who played a part in making it such a success.

⚠️🔥 HIGH FIRE DANGER DURING HEATWAVE 🔥⚠️

The Overberg region is currently experiencing very high temperatures, significantly increasing the risk of veld and mountain fires.

Dry vegetation, strong winds, and extreme heat can cause fires to spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Residents and visitors are urged to remain vigilant and to avoid activities that could start a fire, such as open flames, unattended braais, or burning of waste.

🚨 If you see smoke or a possible fire, report it immediately. Early reporting can help emergency services respond quickly and prevent fires from spreading.

🔥 What a night. What a community. What a result. 🔥

With enormous gratitude, we’re thrilled to share that the GVF Fundraiser Raffle & Auction raised an incredible R93 909 🤍
This would not have been possible without our exceptionally generous sponsors, the wider Greyton community, and the volunteers who gave their time, energy and hearts to make it all happen.

A very special mention too to JJ and Constant, whose BackaBuddy campaign raised enough to purchase a second Unimog Fire Truck for our town 🚒🔥an extraordinary achievement that strengthens our fire response capacity even further.

This fundraiser was 100% community driven, with one shared goal: supporting our volunteer firefighters and keeping Greyton safe. You showed up, you gave generously, and you proved (yet again!) what’s possible when a community pulls together.
