💎 DIAMOND IMBIZO | REVITALISING SOUTH AFRICA’S DIAMOND INDUSTRY

South Africa’s diamond industry has significant potential to drive investment, create jobs and strengthen economic growth. Realising this potential requires stronger collaboration between government and industry, improved access to rough diamonds, and increased investment in local beneficiation.

The Diamond Imbizo brought stakeholders together to discuss practical solutions to the challenges facing the sector and to identify opportunities to build a more competitive, inclusive and sustainable diamond industry.

Key priorities include:

🔹 Strengthening local diamond beneficiation and jewellery manufacturing
🔹 Encouraging investment in exploration and the wider value chain
🔹 Improving access to rough diamonds, finance and export markets
🔹 Supporting job creation and inclusive economic growth
🔹 Establishing dedicated task teams to drive implementation and monitor progress

The message is clear: we must move from dialogue to action. Through strategic partnerships, practical interventions and continued collaboration, we can unlock greater value from South Africa’s diamond resources.

The South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator (SADPMR) issues Temporary Diamond Buyer’s Permits to eligible applicants wishing to purchase unpolished (rough) diamonds.

📋 WHAT IS REQUIRED?

Applicants must provide:
✅ Completed Form DTB
✅ Proof of knowledge of unpolished diamonds
✅ Particulars demonstrating financial ability
✅ SAPS Police Clearance Certificate
✅ Prescribed non-refundable application fee
👤 NATURAL PERSONS:
✅ Certified copy of the relevant passport
🏢 COMPANIES, CLOSE CORPORATIONS, PARTNERSHIPS & JOINT VENTURES:
✅ Certified registration/incorporation documents
✅ Authority to apply on behalf of the entity
✅ Required identification documents
