Knysna Municipality Knysna has always been the gem of the Garden Route. It includes Sedgefield, Karatara, Buffalo Bay, Rheenendal, Brenton and Noetzie.

The town nestles between the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, with the world renowned forests encircling it like a protective mantle. The award-winning 21ha estuary is protected from the sea by the monolithic sandstone "Heads" - silent, centuries old sentinels of the rich history of this unique part of paradise on earth. The municipal area covers a total of 1059 km² that stretches from Swartvlei in Sedgefield in the west to Brackenhill in the east. Knysna is in many ways a microcosm of South Africa: beautiful, vibrant and diverse.

SAD FAREWELL TO DIRECTOR: COMMUNITY SERVICES 📰

Knysna Municipality bid a fond farewell today to Mr Johnny Douglas, Director Community Services, who will be leaving the municipality at the end of this month to take up a new position in George.

Throughout his time serving Greater Knysna and her people, Mr Douglas has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication and a willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.

All political parties acknowledged and commended his strategic leadership, particularly his role in managing the water challenges faced by the municipality, as well as his contribution to strengthening and improving the Section 154 intervention process with local and national government.

We thank Mr Douglas for his dedicated service to Knysna and wish him every success and fulfilment in his new position in George.
