The Greater Kokstad Municipality hosted a special celebration to honour elderly people from all wards in Kokstad. The heartfelt event was held at Ward 10, Shayamoya Hall.
Honourable Mayor, ClIr Lwanda Madikizela, graced the occasion and emphasised the importance of
respecting, caring for and honouring our elders, as they are the pillars of wisdom, unity and heritage in our communities.

He reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to ensuring that senior citizens are valued, protected and included in all community programmes.
The day was filled with joy, music and appreciation for our living legends.

Road Accident Fund Community Outreach is currently underway at the Supper Room near Town Hall until 16h00.

This outreach is giving Residents of Kokstad access to RAF bouquet of services, including assistance with registering new claims, consolidating required compliance documents, checking claim status, and reporting alleged unscrupulous attorneys and touts. You are encouraged to bring your ID and where applicable bring case numbers, accident reports, vehicle registration numbers, and details of the other parties involved in the crash.

Day 1 Greater Kokstad Business Forum Induction

The Greater Kokstad Business Forum Induction officially commenced today, 13 August 2026, at Old Orchard, marking an important step toward strengthening collaboration between the municipality and the local business community.

The presence of SEDFA and municipal leadership signals a strong commitment to ensuring that SMMEs and local enterprises have the support, resources, and platforms needed to thrive.

The focus of today’s engagements was on building unity of purpose and developing practical frameworks that will guide the work of the Forum over the coming year. Members dedicated time to strategic planning to ensure the GKBF Annual Action Plan reflects the real priorities of business in Greater Kokstad, with clear actions that will drive job creation, investment, and economic opportunities across all wards.

This induction reinforces Greater Kokstad Municipality’s commitment to a people-centred approach to development, as captured in our vision: _"A People-Centred City of Economic Possibilities by 2047"_. By bringing business to the table from day one, we are ensuring that economic development in Greater Kokstad is led by those who live it, grow it, and create jobs through it.

The momentum from Day 1 sets the tone for deeper partnership, accountability, and results-driven collaboration between government and business.

Greater Kokstad Municipality interested SMMEs around Kokstad to apply for Detergent Manufacturing Training that is done in collaboration with EDTEA.

Interested SMMEs are to forward their updated CSD to our LED Unit on or before Friday, 14 August 2026. Successful applicants will be notified on Saturday 15 August 2026 as Training will commence on Monday, 17 August 2026 at the Centre in Port Shepstone.
