STATEMENT: COSAS KWA THEMA BRANCH DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR THE FIVE COMRADES SHOT IN NHHLAPO SECTION, KATLEHONG

The Congress of South African Students (COSAS) Kwa Thema Branch strongly condemns with the utmost disgust the brutal shooting of five of our comrades in Nhlapo Section, Katlehong.
We have learned with deep pain and revolutionary anger that five young activists, the future of this country, were shot in a senseless act of violence. This barbaric act is not just an attack on five individuals, it is an attack on the student movement, on the youth, and on the community of Katlehong as a whole.
As COSAS Kwa Thema Branch, we say:
1. We demand swift justice. We call upon the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Katlehong and Ekurhuleni to act with urgency, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure they face the full might of the law.
2. We demand protection for learners. Schools and communities must be safe havens for young people, not hunting grounds. Enough is enough!
3. We stand in solidarity with the families. Our thoughts and revolutionary condolences are with the families of the five comrades, their friends, and the entire Katlehong community during this painful time. Your pain is our pain.
We will not be silenced. We will not allow the blood of our comrades to be spilled in vain. The safety of learners is non-negotiable.
We call upon all progressive forces, the community of Nhlapo, PYA structures, and all COSAS branches in Ekurhuleni to join us in demanding Justice!
An injury to one is an injury to all!
