Midvaal’s War on Potholes campaign continues across the municipality, with even greater progress made in September to improve the condition of our road infrastructure.

The Municipality repaired a total of 4,524 potholes in September.

This is a significant improvement from August, when 2,900 potholes were repaired. It means that 1,624 more potholes were repaired in September, representing a 56% increase in one month.

Municipal teams also cleared 3,561 square metres of stormwater infrastructure and 2,904 square metres of weeds.

Work was also carried out on 28 gravel roads, with 15 kilometres of roads regravelled.

Our teams are also cutting down obstructive trees, trimming vegetation, replacing road signs and painting road markings.

The progress we are making is a reflection of the Municipality’s commitment to maintaining our infrastructure and responding to the issues that affect residents on a daily basis.

Midvaal will continue working to ensure that Midvaal’s roads are safe, well-maintained and kept to the standard that our residents deserve.

Issued on behalf of the Office of the Executive Mayor:
Yours in Service Excellence,
Ald. Peter Teixeira

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🔍

This week, MMC for Public Safety and Roads, Cllr Chantal Gomes, did an oversight visit in Hartzenbergfontein with the Roads and Stormwater and Parks teams. 🦺

Residents in the area have experienced problems during heavy rains. The visit was to assess the stormwater situation on site, with the work that was already completed by the tree-cutting teams and what still needs to happen to clean up the stormwater channels. 🌳

Residents can help keep these channels clear. Please do not dump garden refuse, rubble or litter in or near stormwater channels, as this is a common cause of blockages and flooding when the rains come. 🚯
