FUN FACT: THE ART OF TRACKING

In the African bush, a footprint can tell a whole story!

Many first-time hunters imagine an African safari is like watching a wildlife documentary, where animals are always easy to find. But experienced hunters know that the real adventure often begins long before an animal is even seen.

That’s where our incredible local trackers make all the difference.
A skilled tracker can read the spoor (animal tracks) and look for clues that help reveal:

Which direction the animal travelled
How recently it passed through the area
Clues about the animal’s size, age and identity
Signs in the surrounding bush that an untrained eye might miss

THE FINAL DAY — UNTIL NEXT TIME, ZAMBIA

Every great adventure has to come to an end… even when you’re not quite ready for it.

For our final day in Zambia, we headed to the mighty Victoria Falls — Mosi-oa-Tunya, the Smoke that Thunders — to take in one last incredible piece of Africa before it was time to head to the airport.

We wandered through the local market, enjoyed those final moments together, and took in everything around us. After days of tiger fishing, laughter, campfires and unforgettable memories on the Zambezi, it was the perfect way to close out an incredible adventure.

And then came the part nobody looks forward to…

Goodbye.

Rick and Jill had a long journey home ahead of them, and as always, saying goodbye was bittersweet. They may be heading home, but they are not saying goodbye to the Zingela Family.

Because we already know one thing…

They’ll be back.
In fact, the next adventure is already being planned.

And this one?

It’s going to be even bigger.

More bucket-list destinations.
More incredible trophies.
More wild places.
More stories to tell.
And, of course, more memories made together.

The adventure may be over for now…

THE PERFECT WAY TO END A HUNTING SAFARI

After weeks of adventure, early mornings, long hunting days, and unforgettable moments in the African bush, we took a little time to slow down and enjoy the beauty of the Zambezi.

Our day on the water was all about relaxing, enjoying the scenery, and of course, catching some beautiful fish! The perfect way to unwind after a busy hunting safari.

As the sun went down, we headed back to camp for a special dinner beside the Zambezi River. With the sounds of Africa around us, good food on the table, and even better company, it was one of those evenings you wish could last forever.

This is what the Zingela experience is all about. The adventure, the friendships, the laughter, and the memories that stay with you long after the safari is over.

And the best part? Our adventure is far from finished...

More days, more fishing, and more unforgettable moments to come!

ZAMBEZI TIGER FISHING – THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

The first full day on the mighty Zambezi had arrived… and we were ready to see what the river had in store for us!

With the boats loaded, rods ready, and excitement in the air, we headed out onto the water. The Zambezi was looking beautiful, the sun was shining, and there was only one thing on everyone’s mind…

FISH ON!

We spent the day exploring the river, casting our lines, and enjoying the thrill of tiger fishing. And the river did not disappoint! We caught some really nice fish, had plenty of laughs, and enjoyed those moments when the calm waters suddenly turned into pure excitement as a fish hit the line.

There is something special about being out on the Zambezi. The peaceful surroundings, the beautiful African wilderness, and the anticipation of what might be waiting beneath the surface.

Today was the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. Good fishing, great company, and a whole lot of fun on the water.

As the afternoon rolled in, we headed back to camp with happy hearts, great memories, and stories already being shared.

But this is only the beginning…

The Zambezi is calling, and we are ready for more!

BACK IN ZAMBIA — THE ZAMBEZI IS CALLING!

After an incredible journey through South Africa, the next chapter of Rick & Jill’s African adventure had finally arrived.

ZAMBIA!

We arrived at camp, got settled in, and took a moment to soak up the surroundings. But there was no time to waste — the Zambezi was calling, and we were ready to answer.

We didn’t wait long before heading out onto the water.

The afternoon was quiet. The river stretched out before us, the African wilderness surrounding us, and the peaceful sounds of nature filling the air. There was something truly special about being back in Zambia.

After the excitement of the hunt, this was exactly what we needed. A relaxing afternoon on the water, enjoying the beauty of Africa and the company of good friends.

Everyone was happy. Happy to be back in Zambia. Happy to be together. And most importantly… happy to be back chasing the mighty Zambezi Tiger!

The rods were ready, the river was waiting, and the excitement was building.

We knew what was ahead of us. The power, the speed, the unforgettable strikes, and the thrill of landing one of Africa’s most exciting freshwater fish.

But for now, we simply enjoyed the moment.

The Zambezi had welcomed us back.

And this was only the beginning…

THE HUNT MAY BE OVER… BUT THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES!

Rick & Jill’s African Safari | Chapter: From Family to New Adventures

The wish list was complete. Every dream, every target, every unforgettable moment… ticked off.

After an incredible adventure through Mpumalanga and Limpopo, it was time to slow things down. A well-deserved day to relax, pack our bags, and take a moment to appreciate everything we had experienced.

But with Rick and Jill, it’s never just about the hunting. They have become part of the Zingela Family.

That evening, we gathered my family around the fire for a proper South African braai. Good food, cold drinks, laughter, and stories that only get better with every telling.

We shared memories of the hunt that had just come to an end. The excitement, the challenges, the incredible animals, and those moments that will stay with us forever.

And, of course… we started planning the next adventure. Because once you’ve experienced Africa like this, one safari is never enough.

THE NEXT MORNING…

We said our goodbyes and hit the road to Johannesburg. One night to rest, one more sleep, and then it was time to board an early flight to the next destination.

The next chapter of this incredible safari was waiting for us.

ZAMBIA.

The fishing rods were ready.

FOUR TROPHIES. ONE UNFORGETTABLE DAY.

We wanted this day to COUNT.

Jill still had one trophy firmly on her mind — her warthog. And Rick had his sights set on a gemsbuck.

So, we headed out.

Not long into the hunt, we came across a few gemsbuck. Then we spotted him…

A very nice bull.

Rick was ready.

The shot rang out — and straight into the bag he went.

One down.

But Jill's warthog was still out there somewhere…

We kept moving, glassing, searching… and then…

THERE IT WAS.

Jill took a deep breath.

One last moment of focus.

She settled in, took the shot…

DOWN IT WENT.

The smiles said it all. Jill had her warthog. Rick had his gemsbuck.

But we weren't finished yet.

We knew we wanted to head out again that night.

The temperature had dropped, although thankfully it wasn't the Mpumalanga-freezing kind of cold!

Tonight was all about the night creatures.

We settled into the blind and waited.

Quiet.

Still.

Patient.

We were hoping for a brown hyena.

Minutes passed…

Then suddenly…

RUSTLE.

Something was moving in the bush.

We froze.

We listened.

Another movement…

But it wasn't the hyena.

Honey badgers.

They moved through the darkness, keeping just out of sight before disappearing into the bush.

We waited.

And waited.

Then…

THERE IT WAS.

A brown hyena stepped into view.

And this wasn't just any hyena.

It was a very old brown hyena.

Rick was ready.

The moment came.

The shot broke the silence…

DOWN.

Brown hyena in the bag.

But then, just when we thought the night couldn't get any more interesting…

THE HONEY BADGERS RETURNED.

We could hear them, but they refused to come into view.

So we made a decision.

We left the blind and headed out to find them.

And then…

There they were.

Only about 100 yards from the blind.

Rick settled in.

One perfect shot…

And another trophy was secured.

Four trophies.

One day.

Gemsbuck. Warthog. Brown hyena. Honey badger.

Not too bad for a day's work!

And once again, the African bush reminded us…

You never really know what is waiting around the next corner.

The One We Were Looking For…

After the excitement of the crocodile hunt, the next morning called for a slower start.

A late breakfast, a little time to breathe, and then we loaded everything onto the hunting vehicle. The plan was simple — head out and see what the day would bring.

There was one animal on our minds…

Warthog.

We were hoping for a good, mature boar, but as the hours passed, nothing worthwhile crossed our path. Sometimes Africa makes you wait.

So we headed back to the lodge, finished up for the day, and took a little time to rest.

But the hunt wasn't over yet.

As the evening settled in, we headed back out.

This time, the mission was different.

Caracal.

The darkness closed in around us. The hours passed. Every movement in the grass had us watching. Every flicker in the spotlight made us wonder…

Was this going to be the night?

And then…

There it was.

The one we had been waiting for.

For a moment, everything stood still.

Rick settled in. The opportunity was there.

He took the shot.

And just like that — the tension broke.

Excitement filled the vehicle as we realised we had found exactly what we had been looking for.

Another unforgettable African night. Another trophy in the bag. And another story to add to the adventure.

Now it was time for a well-earned night's rest…

Because in Africa, you never know what tomorrow might bring.
