A multi-stakeholder preparatory meeting is currently underway at the newly constructed Villa Nora Police Station in Ga-Shongoane, within the Lephalale Local Municipality.

The meeting chaired by the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality Cllr Moloko Maeko, aims to consolidate plans, strengthen stakeholder coordination and ensure the successful hosting of the upcoming event scheduled for Tuesday, 20 October 2026.

WATERBERG DISTRICT TO BENEFIT FROM EIGHT ROAD UPGRADE PROJECTS

Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Mr Tonny Ernest Rachoene, is advancing plans to improve road infrastructure across the Waterberg District through the initiation of designs for eight road upgrade projects spanning five local municipalities within Waterberg.

The identified roads to be designed are:
- Road D924: R101 towards Nylsvlei Nature Reserve
- Road D536: Vingerkraal Road
- Road D1660: Pienaars River
- Road D928: Thabazimbi towards Rooiberg
- Road D2748: R33 near Mohlaka Mothala School towards Alma
- Road D1347: R518 towards Bangalong
- Road D1754: Mmaletswi to Reabetswe
- Road D3578: Setupolane towards Ga-Mathapo

The initiative aims to improve connectivity, enhance access to essential services and stimulate local economic development.

MEC Rachoene called for collaboration between the Department, Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL), engineering professionals and communities to ensure quality designs that respond to local needs.

The Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality Cllr Jack Maeko, welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for its potential to address road infrastructure challenges across the District.

The Mayors of the five local municipalities and the CEO of Roads Agency Limpopo were also in attendance.

The Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Cllr Moloko Maeko welcoming the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure in Limpopo Mr Ernest Rachoene at the Waterberg District Municipality head quarters in Modimolle.

The MEC will today introduce Consulting engineers who will design eight roads within the Waterberg District.

All five Mayors from the Local Municipalities will be joining the Executive Mayor.

WATERBERG DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY HOLDS FINAL ORDINARY COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CURRENT COUNCIL

The Speaker of Waterberg District Municipality Cllr Mabu Gumede, presided over the final Ordinary Council meeting of the current Council term. The meeting was held at the Municipality’s headquarters in Modimolle.

In opening the proceedings, the Speaker called upon Council members to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of women who have tragically lost their lives to violence in recent months.

The meeting proceeded with the presentation of key oversight and governance reports. The Chairperson of the Audit Committee Mr Leon Langalibalele, presented the Audit Committee Report, while the Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), Cllr Phakane Mabe, presented the MPAC Report.

The Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality Cllr Moloko Maeko, also presented the Mayoral Committee Report, providing Council with an overview of the work and matters considered by the Mayoral Committee.

LIMPOPO PREMIER MEETS TRADITIONAL LEADERS

Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, welcomed to The Park Hotel in Mokopane by the Chairperson of the Limpopo Provincial House of Traditional and Khoi-San Leaders Hosi Ngove, ahead of the Dialogue she will have with the House.

Premier Ramathuba is joined by the Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature Dr Makoma Makhurupetje, Members of the Executive Council, Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Clir Jack Maeko and the Mayor of Mogalakwena Municipality Cllr Ngoako Taueatsoala.

WATERBERG DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY MAYORAL COMMITTEE MEETING UNDERWAY

The Waterberg District Municipality Mayoral Committee Meeting is currently underway at the Council Chambers of the District Municipality in Modimolle.

The meeting provides a platform for Members of the Mayoral Committee to present reports and provide updates on matters relating to the various portfolios under their respective oversight.

The institution’s Senior Management, led by the Acting Municipal Manager, Mothokoa Tsebe , are in attendance to provide strategic and administrative support.

The proceedings are being led by the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality, Cllr Moloko Maeko.
