MSMEs’ CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR MILITARY VETERANS

The Limpopo Provincial Treasury (LPT), in collaboration with the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA), hosted a Capacity-Building Workshop for Military Veterans Associations (MVAs) at Ga-Seleka Community Hall, under the Lephalale Local Municipality, Waterberg District.

The initiative aims to equip MVAs with practical information and guidance on how to access business opportunities within government and participate effectively in public procurement processes.

Through the Waterberg District Supply Chain Management (SCM) Unit, LPT presented on the importance of registering on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and accessing government procurement opportunities. The team emphasised that compliance is key to success, highlighting the importance of:

- Regularly updating CSD profiles.
- Monitoring Request for Quotation (RFQ) opportunities.
- Ensuring that tax status and company documentation are compliant and up to date.

LEDA also provided valuable insights into essential business and technical skills, including financial management, marketing, strategic planning and project management, to help strengthen the capacity and sustainability of veteran-owned enterprises.

The workshop forms part of LPT’s strategic objective to promote the economic participation of military veterans and MSMEs in the provincial economy by broadening access to business opportunities, strengthening compliance and supporting enterprise development.

LIMPOPO PROVINCIAL TREASURY EMPOWERS MSMEs THROUGH CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP

The Limpopo Provincial Treasury, through the Mopani District Supply Chain Management (SCM) Client Support Centre, continues to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with the knowledge and skills needed to participate effectively in government procurement opportunities.

The capacity-building workshop, held at Nkowankowa Community Hall in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, brought together local businesses and key stakeholders, including SARS, LEDA, NYDA, SEDFA, Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality and Mopani District Municipality.

The session focused on government procurement processes, compliance requirements, completing Standard Bidding Document (SBD) forms correctly, adhering strictly to specifications and conducting market research before submitting quotations.

Mopani SCM also encouraged suppliers to maintain compliance, conduct proper market research and avoid overpricing when responding to procurement opportunities.

The initiative supports the objectives of the Limpopo Procurement Plan, which targets 75% of the provincial budget for procurement opportunities benefiting qualifying businesses. It further seeks to promote inclusive economic participation, strengthen local enterprises and create opportunities for economic growth and job creation.

Through initiatives like these, Limpopo Provincial Treasury remains committed to broadening access to government procurement and building a stronger, more inclusive provincial economy.
