ANC Waterberg hosted the OR Tambo Memorial Lecture at the newly refurbished Peter Nchabeleng Community Hall in the Modimolle-Mookgophong Sub-Region, led by ANC PEC Member Cde Letjeka Pheeha.

The lecture served as an opportunity to reflect on the life, values and enduring legacy of Oliver Reginald Tambo, one of the most influential leaders in the struggle for South Africa’s liberation.

In his address, Cde Pheeha emphasised the importance of preserving and advancing Tambo’s legacy through selfless leadership, unity, discipline, integrity, organisational dedication and an unwavering commitment to serving the people.

He highlighted the need for present and future generations to draw inspiration from Tambo’s principles and ensure that his vision of a united, non-racial, non-sexist and democratic South Africa continues to guide their actions.

The gathering also provided a platform to reflect on the responsibilities of leadership, the importance of strengthening organisational unity and the need to remain committed to the aspirations of the people.

As the ANC commemorates the 33rd anniversary of Oliver Tambo’s passing in 2026, his legacy remains a reminder that leadership is about sacrifice, service and placing the interests of the people above personal interests.

“The legacy of OR Tambo must live on through our actions, our values and our unwavering commitment to the people.”
