We were honoured to be represented at the East African Youth Forum on Drugs held in Arusha, Tanzania. An important gathering focused on drug prevention, harm reduction, psychosocial support and community-based responses across Africa.
Representing MCC was one of our Community Drug Prevention & Psychosocial Support Facilitator - Makalo Sonwabile and Dr Musa Aminu, Co-founder of Khirana Healthcare, who has previously partnered with us through facilitator training and community drug education initiatives.
The forum provided valuable opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and discussions on community-based responses to substance abuse. Key topics included prevention, education, stigma reduction, youth empowerment and holistic support systems.
Soso shared insights from our drug prevention and psychosocial support programmes while also learning from innovative approaches across the continent. The experience also strengthened partnerships with organisations and experts, reinforcing the role of collaboration and community-led interventions in creating lasting change. 💙

There are moments at the Centre that quietly remind us why this work matters so deeply…
We celebrated growth and incredible potential within our communities as participants of the AEDF New Venture Creation Program, in partnership with and the Astron Energy Developmental Fund, took part in the Port Elizabeth Pitching Competition & Graduation.
Behind every presentation was a story of resilience, self-belief and the hope of building a better future. Not only for themselves, but for their families and communities too.
When people are given opportunity and support ? Transformation takes place! And we couldn’t be more proud.🩵

Over the past few months, we’ve had the joy of welcoming international students from as part of their volunteering journey with us at the Care Centre.
What a meaningful time it has been. From the very beginning, they gave of themselves so willingly - with kindness, openness and hearts ready to serve wherever help was needed.
Collaborations like these show us how powerful human connection can be. Different backgrounds, different stories, yet united by care for community and one another.
Thank you, for the memories shared, for the love you poured into Missionvale. You will always be part of the MCC family. ❤️
