Sierra started traveling with us in September 2021 when she was just one year old.

Today, on her 6th birthday, she’s traveling to Johannesburg for a follow-up consultation with her transplant team.

What a journey of courage, strength, and hope.

Happy birthday, Sierra — we’re so proud of you 🎂✨

What would life be without our grandparents?

This morning little Saige and her granny are off on an early flight to Cape Town for a specialist appointment with a Paediatric Pulmonologist.

Thanks to FlySafair, they’ll arrive safely and on time , and HERTZ will make sure the hospital transfer is stress‑free.

Grandparents truly make the journey lighter, in every sense.

While Awonke’s friends all started the new school year today, Awonke — who is 11 years old and lives in East London — is traveling to Red Cross Children’s Hospital for his post-surgery follow-up and review.

We wish him all the very best as he continues on his healing journey.

A heartfelt thank you to FlySafair and Hertz for making this journey possible and ensuring he gets the care he needs.

It is always such an emotional send-off when a family travels for a stem cell transplant — excitement and nerves all wrapped into one.

Uzair and his parents are traveling to Pretoria for his transplant, with his dad bravely stepping forward as the donor

Thank you to FlySafair and EZ Shuttles for making this journey possible and supporting this family every step of the way.

As we look back on 2025, we are humbled by the journey Wings and Wishes has shared with so many families. This year, we funded 1,590 trips for children to access expert medical care — each one a story of courage, resilience, and love.

Our first trip of the year took place on 7 January, when little Luhlelo traveled from East London to Red Cross Hospital for life-saving cardiac surgery. Our final trip was on 29 December, when Logan travelled to Donald Gordon for treatment.

Throughout the year, we celebrated victories: successful surgeries, the completion of treatments, and the gift of a new lease on life after transplants. We also stood alongside parents in moments of anguish and uncertainty, waiting for diagnoses, and lovingly supported those beginning the path of palliative care.

For us, it is a profound privilege to ease the burden of travel so that parents can focus entirely on their child’s health. We hold firmly to our belief that transport should never be a barrier to any child reaching expert medical care.

Thanks to the unwavering support of our loyal partners, we were able to respond to every request we received. Together, we have made a difference — one trip, one child, one family at a time.

It’s been a year of long journeys, brave little warriors, anxious goodbyes and joyful reunions.

Because of your kindness and support, many families are spending Christmas where they belong — together.

We are deeply grateful to every partner, donor and supporter who helped make safe travel, medical care and hope possible. You truly helped turn wishes into miracles.

May your Christmas be filled with love, peace and precious moments with those closest to you.

Thank you for walking this journey with us.

Merry Christmas from all of us 🎄❤️

Today, 5 families are traveling home to be reunited with their loved ones for the festive season.
Our first flight departed at 06:00, safely taking our Durban family home.

Three of our families are on the road by bus to Graaff-Reinet, East London, and Mthatha, while our final family will board their flight to Port Elizabeth at 18:40.

There is nothing more special than being home for Christmas. We wish all our families safe travels, joyful reunions, and a festive season filled with love and hope. ❤️🎄

Little Daylin is finally heading home today after spending a month in hospital.

There is no better gift than being home in time for Christmas

His mom — and all of us — are incredibly grateful to FlySafair and EZ Shuttles for once again making this journey possible and ensuring they get home safely.

Thank you for helping make Christmas wishes come true

It’s buzzing in the office as we work tirelessly to make sure our families get home in time for Christmas!

Flights and buses are full, but we will always find a way.

Some of our children have been in hospital since October, and being able to go home is truly the greatest gift of all.

On 1 April 2024, FlySafair played an instrumental role in changing Silu’s life forever, ensuring he could travel to Cape Town for his life-saving liver transplant.

Since then, FlySafair has continued to stand by Silu and his family, sponsoring 38 flights to enable him to attend every critical follow-up appointment with his transplant team.

This is what making a real difference looks like — helping to save lives, one trip at a time.
Thank you, FlySafair, for your unwavering support and compassion.

Living in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape comes with many challenges — especially for parents fighting to get their children to the expert medical care that is often only available in major cities.

Little Othalive, from Matatiele, is one of those brave children. She needs ongoing treatment in Johannesburg for biliary atresia, a rare and serious liver condition. In 2025 alone, her family made 18 grueling trips to ensure she received the specialised care she needs.

Thanks to the generosity of our monthly donors, who commit just R200 a month, Wings & Wishes was able to stand beside this family every step of the way. Their support meant Othalive could access world‑class medical care — giving her a fighting chance at a healthier, fuller life.

As we look ahead to 2026, you can be a hero too. Your monthly gift can help another child overcome the barrier of distance and receive the care they deserve.

While most children are enjoying the holiday sunshine, 11-year-old Sarah is on her way to Cape Town for important treatment.

Thanks to our incredible partners, FlySafair ensured she arrived safely and on time, and Hertz was waiting at Cape Town Airport to get her to the hospital without any hassle. Keeping Sarah in our thoughts today.
