VACANCY
In terms of its Employment Equity Plan, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is committed

SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE
CONSTABLE LEVEL 1 (TWENTY POSITIONS)
(METRO POLICE)
POSITION CODE: 8753
TASK Grade 7 (R233 796 – R325 056 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
(Please note that only NMBM employees may apply for this position.)
Requirements:
• Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
• Valid code B Driver’s Licence.
Competencies:
• Incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.
• The incumbent must have the ability to take charge on any emergency.
As part of the selection process, the recommended candidates will be required to
undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Health and Wellness centre.
Job purpose:
1. Undertakes the general maintenance of Law and Order in terms of powers conferred
upon a Police Official by the South African Polices Amendment Act and in particular the
prevention of crime in terms of the powers conferred upon a Metro Police Official by the
Criminal Procedures Act as well as other legislation.
2. Monitors, controls and regulates traffic in terms of the provisions of the road traffic act.
3. Enforces and administers By-laws of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality
and performing foot-beat duties.
Special Conditions to this post:
Candidates should be between 18 and 30 years of age.
Applicants must have No previous criminal convictions.
Fingerprints of all successful candidates will be taken.

As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or
competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security
vetting and psychometric assessment.
