Every year our Kariega team attends the Hoërskool Despatch first aider’s motor vehicle accident simulation. This simulation takes place with multiple roleplayers and we have participated in this program for several years. Hoërskool Despatch has an active first aider program that we are privileged to be involved with. The below photographs were taken at the 2026 display which was held recently.

Nurses Day 2026 saw our medics around the province visiting multiple healthcare facilities, showing their appreciation for the amazing work that nurses do. Nurses have an incredibly important role in the emergency medical service and we salute you!

Another successful Ironman complete! Thank you to our amazing team of medics, other roleplayers and organizers for all of their hard work that went into Ironman 2026. Incredible athletes from around the world took part in this grueling triathlon that was hosted in Gqeberha.

Happy New Year from Gardmed Ambulance Service! Thank you to our amazing New Years Eve nightshift crew who saw the new year in while providing medical care to the residents of Gqeberha.

Our Gqeberha dayshift and nightshift crews were treated to surprise gifts by Alice Wilson, a longtime supporter of Gardmed. Thank you for making our medic’s Christmas a little more special with your thoughtful gesture. We would also like to thank our teams across the province and all other roleplayers for their dedication to providing lifesaving assistance throughout the holiday season.

Congratulations to Jo-Anne for being chosen as our October employee of the month. Jo-Anne is part of our amazing admin department behind the scenes and has shown dedication and efficiency in her role. Thank you!

Our team was privileged to attend an evacuation drill at Walmer Park Shopping Centre alongside multiple roleplayers. These exercises are imperative to ensure the smooth co-ordination between the centre and roleplayers if an emergency arises.

Organs in Transit

Our team recently assisted a doctor in transporting human organs from a healthcare facility in Gqeberha to Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport.

We collected both the doctor and the transplant cooler from the hospital pickup point and proceeded to the airport, where a flight to Johannesburg was waiting.

Thank you to everyone involved in this process of helping to save lives! It is a privilege to work hand in hand with dedicated practitioners who are making a difference.

Quick thinking and teamwork helps save lives!

Our control room recently received a call from a member of the public who witnessed a vehicle leave the road and overturn on the N2 between Nanaga and Grahamstown/Makhanda. The callers quick thinking to report the accident and share a location pin via WhatsApp assisted our control room in dispatching the closest vehicle, which arrived in a timely manner.

It was determined that 3 patients required medical care and thanks to the equally fast response of Makhanda Metro EMS, urgent care was provided to all injured. All occupants were transported to a medical facility in Makanda by Gardmed Ambulance Service and Metro EMS. Thank you to all roleplayers for the efficient team work and compassionate patient care.
