Dr Welcome Kupangwa, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Business Management, was recently invited to share his experiences in publishing research outputs from a PhD thesis with colleagues at the School of Accounting. To date, Dr Kupangwa has generated 13 scholarly outputs from his doctoral research, comprising nine peer-reviewed journal articles and four papers presented at national and international conferences. This publication record highlights the potential for doctoral research to contribute significantly to academic knowledge beyond the completion of the degree. During his presentation, Dr Kupangwa discussed three key areas of academic publishing: positioning a thesis for publication, converting thesis chapters into publishable manuscripts, and developing effective academic publishing and manuscript management strategies. The session provided practical insights and guidance for academics seeking to maximise the research impact and publication potential of their postgraduate studies.

Wrapping Up Another Successful International Week on Sustainability (I-Week)
During 23–27 March, students from the School of Management Sciences participated in the 13th International Week on Sustainability—marking the third year Mandela University students have been involved. Hosted online by the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and facilitated in person by Prof Shelley Farrington, Dr Storm Watson, and Ms Leigh Stear from the Department of Business Management, the programme spanned five interactive days.
Students engaged in presentations, discussions, and workshops with international peers, academics, sustainability experts, and CEOs, exploring real-world sustainability challenges and collaborating in global teams. The experience not only broadened their perspectives but also equipped them to think critically and act responsibly in addressing future sustainability challenges.
