Today in the Ordinary Council Meeting 28 April 2022, Cllr Seconded A Proposal to Approve the Gender Equity and Also the Dissability Policy to be Adopted and Approved by Council.

In His Introduction, He emphasized that People Living with Dissabilities (PLWD) are some of the Most Vulnerable and Marginalised Communities in Society. He said that when it comes to Prioritization of Housing Opportunities, Job Creation and Local Economic Development, for example, support for Smme's for PLWDs, these Variety of Needs for people living with dissabilities are not always being catered for. HENCE as George Municipality, These Needs Must be incorporated into all Policies, Services and Initiatives initiated by George Minicipality. Infact He said that George as A Community and as the Social Development Directorate of the Municipality, Himself and the Committee, should become Advocates for the Rights and Needs of PLWds...

HE SECONDED THE PROPOSAL FOR THE DISSABILITY AND ALSO FOR THE GENDER EQUALITY POLICIES TO BE ADOPTED BY COUNCIL, but stressed that both policies MUST be thouroughly workshopped with Council and all relevant Stakeholders so that the needs of diverse community of PLWDs be captured within these Policies and speak to other policies as well.

Our Fourth year students in collaboration with PE Childline are organizing a fun run in aid of Childline ..plz check it out.... and support this worthy cause...its an opportunity to get to know one another better...1st years can meet the fourth years and also network with other professsionals already in the field.... so lets gear up and lets get out there tomorrow in our green t-shirts..... lets represent NMMU.
