This topic, presented over two days, highly relevant to today’s context, will enable participants to:
Distinguish between normative and problematic sexual behaviours in children across different developmental stages;
Identify key risk factors and contributing influences, including trauma, environmental exposure, and neurodevelopmental factors;
Explain the theoretical frameworks supporting sexual behavioural problems, such as trauma, attachment, social learning, and self-regulation models;
Understand relevant South African legal frameworks, including the Children’s Act 38 of 2005 and the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, and apply these within ethical decision-making processes;
Respond appropriately to incidents involving sexual behaviour between children, and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies to assist affected children.
Apply practical tools, develop realistic and contextually relevant safety plans, collaborate effectively with schools and multidisciplinary teams, make informed referral decisions, and incorporate ethical principles and cultural considerations throughout assessment and intervention;
Maintain awareness of your professional wellbeing and the impact of vicarious trauma.

BEDANKING – DIE KINDERFONDS SKENING/DONASIE VIR ASSESSERING EN TERAPIE VAN KINDERS
Hiermee wil Rata Maatskaplike Dienste hul opregte dank uitspreek vir die skening/donasie van R 141,200 wat vanaf Die Kinderfonds ontvang is.
As ‘n Kinderbeskermingsorganisasie het ons hoofsaaklik ten doel om gebroke, mishandelde en misbruikte kinders te beskerm teen alle vorme van geweld. Hierdie kinders is meestal getraumatiseer en benodig terapie. In die gevalle van seksuele misbruik is assessering ook meestal nodig om te bepaal hoe hierdie kinders bygestaan kan word en om hulle tydens die hofprosesse te kan beskerm en te ondersteun.
Hierdie fondse is onmisbaar vir hierdie dienste wat Rata aan hierdie kinders lewer omdat die biologiese ouers meestal nie in staat is om vir hierdie dienste te betaal nie. Hierdie skenking stel ons in staat om hierdie kinders te kan begelei van gebrokenheid tot heelheid.

• Understand the procedural requirements for social work reports under Regulation 55 and the legal implications of failing to undergo statutory duties as instructed by the court.
