PEC-G and PEC-PLE 2027 – Applications Open
(Pre-selection Phase)
The Embassy of Brazil in Pretoria is pleased to announce that applications for the Brazilian Program for Exchange Students - Undergraduate Level (PEC-G) and for the Brazilian Program for Exchange Students - Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PEC-PLE) are now open.
Students interested in pursuing undergraduate studies in Brazil are invited to apply until 9th May, 2026.
The Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação (PEC-G) offers nationals of developing countries, with which Brazil maintains educational, cultural, and scientific and technological cooperation agreements, the opportunity to undertake undergraduate studies at Brazilian Higher Education Institutions.
Please note that the scholarship covers tuition fees only. Selected candidates (or their sponsors/guardians) are responsible for all other expenses, including accommodation, airfare, transportation, and living costs in Brazil.

Launched by UNESCO in partnership with the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, the series explores the richness and diversity of the region’s heritage in episodes available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
🔹 The third episode focuses on transnational heritage sites, including the Talamanca Range, shared by Costa Rica and Panama, the Andean road system Qhapaq Ñan, and the Jesuit Missions of the Guaranis. It highlights how heritage can bring countries closer together, strengthen ties among peoples, and serve as a tool for international cooperation.

The story follows Marcielle, a 13-year-old girl growing up in a context marked by violence, who begins to question and confront the realities shaping her future and that of the women around her.

Applications for the position of Support Assistant - Driver at the Embassy of Brazil in Pretoria are open from 9 March to 24 April 2026. The Support Assistant primary responsibility will be working as a driver. The position offers an initial salary of ZAR 14,138.43 per month, with entitlement to health insurance for the employee and their legal dependents.
Mandatory requirements:
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written;
- Completion of elementary/primary education (a higher education degree will be considered an advantage);
- Professional driver's license/permit held for at least the past two years, which must be valid in South Africa and authorise the holder to drive vehicles with a 15-person capacity; and
- Legal residence in South Africa with authorization to work full-time.

A UNESCO, em parceria com o Instituto Guimarães Rosa, lançou uma série especial de podcast dedicada ao patrimônio cultural e natural na América Latina e Caribe.
A série conta com três episódios, disponíveis em português, inglês e espanhol:
🔹 O primeiro episódio aborda sítios associados à história da escravidão, apresentando-os como espaços de memória, resistência e luta pela liberdade. A narrativa começa no Cais do Valongo, e inclui sítios em Cuba, Jamaica e Haiti.
🔹 O segundo episódio, recém-lançado, trata do impacto da mudança do clima sobre o patrimônio mundial, com destaque para o Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, a cidade histórica de Bridgetown e a Reserva da Biosfera da Borboleta-Monarca no México.

🎧 New podcast on Latin American and Caribbean cultural and natural heritage
UNESCO, in partnership with the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, has launched a special podcast series dedicated to cultural and natural heritage in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The series includes three episodes, available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish:
🔹 The first episode explores sites associated with the history of slavery, presenting them as spaces of memory, resistance, and the struggle for freedom. The journey begins at the Valongo Wharf and includes sites in Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti.
🔹 The second episode, just released, examines the impact of climate change on World Heritage sites, featuring the Los Glaciares National Park, the historic city of Bridgetown, and Mexico’s Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve.
🔹 The third episode, to be released on March 16, highlights transnational heritage sites, including the Talamanca Range (shared by Costa Rica and Panama), the Qhapaq Ñan, and the Jesuit Missions of the Guaranis, underscoring heritage as a tool for international cooperation.
