🚯 Earlier this month, 16 🇿🇦 journalists, community communicators, and digital storytellers gathered in Cape Town for a workshop on reporting the marine litter and plastics crisis. 🌊

♻️ Hosted by 🇩🇪 through , together with , the programme explore the plastics challenge from multiple perspectives:
▫️from science and policy
▫️to waste management,
▫️recycling
▫️the circular economy, and
▫️the ongoing negotiations towards a Global Plastics Treaty

🇩🇪 is proud to support initiatives that strengthen environmental journalism and help create space for informed conversations shaping a more sustainable future.🌱

✊🏾🇿🇦 Today we commemorate Youth Day, honouring the courage, resilience, and sacrifice of the young people who stood up against inequality and the apartheid education system 50 years ago.

📚 What began as a peaceful student protest in Soweto against the enforced use of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction became a defining moment in 🇿🇦’s history.

🎓 The events of 16 June highlighted the power of youth voices in the fight for freedom, dignity, and equal education.

Today, Youth Day not only remembers the lives lost and affected during the uprising, but also celebrates the important role young people continue to play in shaping 🇿🇦’s future.

🇩🇪 is proud to continue partnering with young people through cooperation in education, skills development, culture, innovation, and exchange. 🤝

Under the theme “Bring Your Father, Uncle, and Brother to Pride”, the campaign encourages fathers, uncles, brothers and male community leaders to stand alongside LGBTQI+ individuals and communities, promoting dialogue, acceptance and support. 🤝

🫂 Through community engagement and conversation, the initiative aims to help challenge harmful norms, strengthen inclusion and support safer communities for all. ✨
