Standard protocol for me to assist in this regard would include an assessment of the PATIENTS POST OPERATIVE REPORT so as to review,
-The nature of the complication
-The nature of the surgical procedure
-The age , weight and size of the patient
-Where and how the cuff was applied
-The size and type of the cuff used
-The pressure or Hg/mm that was used
-The duration of use of the inflated cuff

I can confidently assist in identifying the cause of complications pending a review of the following and once I've identified the problem I can assist and advise with preventative measures by means of the following.

•Provision of our Cuff pressure guide which by means of a of all of our cuff sizes listed with theRELEVANT SYSTOLIC PRESSURE, which when added to the patients DIASTOLIC PRESSURE, will provided you with an accurate required pressure or Hg/mm for safe limb occlusion, RELEVANT to the cuff shape, cuff size and the patient being operated on.

The following guide also provides the correct SYSTOLIC PRESSURE GUIDELINES pertaining to the correct use of our Extra Wide, Extra Long and or Contour CUFFS, which because of the larger surface area or shape design are able to facilitate safe extended limb occlusion under lower pressures than those commonly used for straight cuffs.

This has served me particularly well in addressing cases of complications where the patient was obese or muscular and the Limb was conical as opposed to cylindrical in shape.

I am also able to facilitate In Service for staff and , where I will provide a revision of our Guide focusing on key aspects including,

-Pre operative patient report
-Correct Cuff selection and application thereof
-Indications for and the correct use of our other range of cuff designs including the Contour Cuff and Cuffs used for BIER'S BLOCK/ I.V.R.A
(INTRAVENOUS REGIONAL ANAESTHESIA)
-recommended guidelines and times for ISCHEMIC REPURFUSION
-Complications and preventative measures

Our Contour cuffs are ideally suited and designed for application on larger patients , more specifically obese or muscular patients are ideal for the application and use of this Tourniquet Cuff.

The Contour design or shape facilitates safe limb occlusion by not only efficiently maintaining effective transmission of the required pressure to deep tissue but can also do so at a lower pressures than that of the straight cuffs

More specifically in the case of Obese or Muscular patients that have a CONICAL SHAPED LIMB , as opposed to a CYLINDRICAL SHAPED LIMB, the design and shape of our Contour Cuff is thus so as to prevent movement of the cuff down the Limb once the cuff has been inflated to the required pressure.
