EARLIER ON ๐ฟ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ญ | Thelma Hlongwane had a conversation with His Excellency Mr Mirko Manzoni, Ambassador of Switzerland to South Africa about the relationship between Switzerland and South Africa, the importance of diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, trade, culture and global engagement.
{WATCH} The Department of International relations and Cooperationโs Deputy Minister Alvin Botes met with his Algerian counterpart, Deputy Minister Chaib Sofiane.
On the agenda, the two Deputy Ministers discussed: strengthening bilateral relations, boosting trade, and collaborating on regional peace and development.
Both nations collaborate closely within the African Union on issues of decolonization, including strong, mutual support for Saharawi self-determination.
This visit marks another important milestone in the long-standing fraternal relations between South Africa and Algeria.
South African trade delegations (including representatives from sectors like oil, gas, automotive, and agriculture) are actively working with Algerian counterparts to establish new trade routes and economic opportunities within the African continent.
Moving from dialogue to action, Minister Lamola and Minister of Energy are scheduled to visit Algiers in the near future.
On sports diplomacy both Deputy Ministers express their wishes for both countries to do well in the current FIFA World Cup, taking place in the United State, Mexico and Canada.
