The Office of the DPCI Judge provides oversight over the HAWKS, ensuring accountability and integrity in their operations, in terms of Section 17L (4) (a and b) of the South African Police Service Act, 1995.

On 21 April 2026, the Office of the DPCI Judge, led by Justice MF Legodi, accompanied by the CSPS Director-General, Mr ST Sibuyi, concluded the HAWKS Provincial Stakeholder Engagement visit at the SAPS College in Pretoria, Gauteng.

The engagement aimed to strengthen relations between the two offices and support the DPCI Judge's oversight mandate.

Speaking at the event, Justice Legodi encouraged the members of the Hawks to provide feedback on the complaint during the investigation.

10 April 2026: Earlier today, the office of the DPCI Judge, led by Justice Legodi, met with the KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI/Hawks) to strengthen relations between the two offices and enhance the DPCI Judge's mandate.
