Prins Albert Munisipaliteit deel graag hierdie belangrike padveiligheidsboodskap aan vragmotorbestuurders en vervoeroperateurs.

Die Swartbergpas is nie geskik vir swaar voertuie, insluitend vragmotors, interlinks en voertuie wat sleepwaens trek nie. Operateurs word versoek om alternatiewe roetes te gebruik, roetes vooraf deeglik te beplan en nie slegs op GPS-navigasie staat te maak nie.

Prince Albert Municipality is sharing this important road safety message with truck drivers and transport operators.

The Swartberg Pass is not suitable for heavy vehicles, including trucks, interlinks and vehicles towing trailers. Operators are urged to use alternative routes, plan routes carefully in advance and not rely solely on GPS navigation.

NSFAS 2027 Funding: Who Qualifies?
NSFAS applications for the 2027 academic year are open from 18 September to 31 October 2026.
The key eligibility requirements shown in the poster are:
* Citizenship: South African citizens or permanent residents with a valid South African ID, regardless of age.
* Qualification: Students studying or planning to study towards their first NSFAS-funded certificate or undergraduate qualification at a public university or TVET college.
* Social grants: Recipients of the Child Support, Foster Care or Care Dependency Grant qualify under the stated criteria. The SRD grant does not count.
* Household income: Combined gross household income of R350,000 or less per year.
* Applicants with disabilities: Combined gross household income of R600,000 or less per year.
* NSFAS loans: Eligible students at public institutions taking approved courses, with combined annual household income between R350,001 and R600,000, may qualify for loans.

Aan al ons matrikulante regoor die Prins Albert munisipale area: vandag begin ’n belangrike laaste hoofstuk van jou skoolloopbaan.

Jy het jare lank gewerk om hierdie punt te bereik. Terwyl jy jou finale eksamens aanpak, bly gefokus, vertrou op jou voorbereiding en pak elke vraestel stap vir stap aan.

Daar mag moeilike oomblikke wees, maar moenie toelaat dat een vraag, een vraestel of een dag jou hele reis bepaal nie. Gee jou beste, sorg vir jouself en hou aan vorentoe beweeg.

Jou families, onderwysers en gemeenskappe het hierdie pad saam met jou gestap, en ons almal staan agter jou.

Prins Albert Munisipaliteit bedank graag die gemeenskap wat waaksaam bly en vragmotors rapporteer wat die Swartbergpas gebruik.

’n Interlink-vragmotor het onlangs vanaf Oudtshoorn die pas binnegegaan en is deur plaaslike padgebruikers aangemeld. Sodra die vragmotor binne die Prins Albert munisipale area was, kon ons verkeersbeamptes die voertuig stop.

Die bestuurder is met 𝐑𝟗 𝟎𝟎𝟎 beboet en die vragmotor moes omdraai.

Ons herinner alle padgebruikers dat swaar voertuie en voertuie langer as 7 m nie op die Swartbergpas toegelaat word nie.

Dankie aan ons gemeenskap vir u waaksaamheid en samewerking.

Prince Albert Municipality would like to thank the community for remaining vigilant and reporting trucks using the Swartberg Pass.

An interlink truck recently entered the pass from Oudtshoorn and was reported by local road users. Once the truck entered the Prince Albert municipal area, our Traffic officials were able to stop the vehicle.

The driver was fined 𝐑𝟗 𝟎𝟎𝟎 and the truck was required to turn around.

We remind all road users that heavy vehicles and vehicles longer than 7 m are not permitted on the Swartberg Pass.

Tydens die afgelope vakansie het ons Uitvoerende Burgemeester ’n terreinbesoek aan die onlangs opgeknapte Gesinspark in Prins Albert gebring. Dit was besonders om kinders te sien speel en inwoners die nuwe buitelug-gimnasium te sien gebruik.

Prins Albert Munisipaliteit is dankbaar teenoor die Nasionale Departement van Sport, Kuns en Kultuur vir die befondsing wat die ontwikkeling van die buitelug-gimnasium moontlik gemaak het.

Ons wil ook ons gemeenskap bedank vir die manier waarop hierdie ruimte versorg en skoon gehou word. ’n Gemeenskapsruimte behoort aan almal, en dit is mooi om te sien hoe dit gebruik en waardeer word.

Hierdie ruimte is geskep vir almal — gesinne, kinders, ouer inwoners en enigeen wat aktief en gesond wil bly. Kom stap, ontspan onder die bome, laat die kinders speel, of gebruik die nuwe oefentoerusting.

Kom ons hou aan om saam na ons Gesinspark om te sien, sodat almal dit nog lank kan geniet.

During the recent holiday, our Executive Mayor conducted a site visit to the newly renovated Family Park in Prince Albert. It was wonderful to see children playing and residents making use of the new outdoor gym.

Prince Albert Municipality is grateful to the National Department of Sport, Arts and Culture for the funding that made the development of the outdoor gym possible.

We would also like to thank our community for taking care of the space and keeping it clean. A community space belongs to everyone, and it is encouraging to see it being used and appreciated.

This space was created for everyone — families, children, older residents and anyone who wants to stay active and healthy. Come for a walk, relax under the trees, let the children play, or make use of the new exercise equipment.

Let us continue taking care of our Family Park together so that everyone can enjoy it for years to come.
