The Independents

Directions

The Independents The independents are a citizen-led organization. The independents party is saying enough is enough!

It was birthed from the frustration of a community who suffered and continue to suffer at the hands of poor governance. It is made up of people from diverse backgrounds and professions who contribute to the party with their various expertise. The independents have the heart of the people in mind and are doing everything possible to ensure that their tomorrow looks better than today. It’s time to rebuild and restore order, accountability and integrity in political governance.

Interventions came. A financial recovery plan came.

In February 2024, Parliament's Cooperative Governance committee recorded no progress despite those interventions, and the audit opinion remained qualified. Nationally, only 39 of 257 municipalities achieved a clean audit.

Meanwhile the bill still arrives on time. If you pay rates, you deserve the service you pay for — not another turnaround plan, not another recovery plan, not another year of waiting. Taps, lights, roads, refuse. Every rand accounted for.

The Independents will sit in council and demand answers on every rand spent, and hold the district to account on water and sanitation, which is its responsibility.

Enough is Enough. Votela utshintsho. Vote The Independents on 4 November.
