Another beautiful day in the Gardens today. Plenty of Visitors wanting an update on the Eagles.
Makatsa and Mahlohi decided to play ball today, and spent a lot of time on the Ridges around the Waterfall. Early this morning we spotted them on and around the old Waterfall Nest. A lot of flying, then sat together in a tree on the far East Ridge.
Naomi Corinaldi was active with her camera, excited to get some photos of the pair.
It's Summer and access to the Gardens is free of charge for Pensioners on Tuesday. Take the time to come chat to the Monitors and View the Eagles though our Telescopes. See you Tuesday. đŸ˜€

A somewhat strange day yesterday in the Gardens. Besides the Vervit Monkey making a quick visit, we had an intruder Black Eagle coming into the area.
On Saturday, while we were monitoring, we saw a third Black Eagle flying with Makatsa and Mahlori. Being so high, we were unable to get a clear view of it. What was strange was, there appeared to be no aggression towards it. V. Black Eagles are very territorial and will not allow another Adult Black Eagle into their territory.
Yesterday, this Black Eagle came in and landed on the Ridge. We were now able to get a closer look and it was evident it was a Juvenile, C
Could be from a previous season. It appeared skitterish, and when Makatsa and Mahlori came flying over the ridge, it made a quick get-away, a clear indication that the adults had been aggressive towards it.
We will keep an eye on the situation and keep you posted.
Naomi Corinaldi was able to get these photos of the Juvenile.

I have posted BEPR Banking details below. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. All funds are used for the protection of the Eagles habitat.

Makatsa and Mahlori don't seem interested in any further attempts to nest this season, but they are providing the Visitor's to the Gardens with some facinating aerial maneuvers.
Between the Crows and Perrigrine Falcons diving in, and creating more interesting maneuvers in the air, even a Juvenile Black Sparrowhawk made a flypast.
Karin Hurlimann Wrede and Naomi Corinaldi were both busy running around for some interesting photos for our page. Below are some photos taken by them yesterday morning. You're even able see the Prey in Makatsa and Mahlori Tellons.
